Cracking the Ice (Commander Rule 0)

Commander: Rule 0 Mono-Blue Snow

ScionsStillLive

Maybeboard

Marit Lage's Slumber is quite a good card, both for advantage AND wincon. With the Commander: Rule 0 format, it is finally able to be the commander it wanted to be.

The Commander

Marit Lage's Slumber requires 10 snow permanents to fully activate. This deck is intended to stall out until that goal is reached. However, said goal is less daunting when you realise that snow lands exist and count as permanents. Suddenly, Marit Lage's (Scry 1) ability turns our land drops into a way to sift through the deck. Combined with other spells that provide card advantage in this deck, you'll be able to find enough snow permanents easily. Once you activate Marit Lage's ability to create a 20/20 flying and indestructible token creature, the opponents' life totals will start rapidly dropping.

Card Advantage and Ramp

Many card advantage spells in this deck cost 1-3 mana, allowing you to find resources quickly. They may also allow you to keep hands where you have only 1-2 sources of mana, as you can draw into more.

The ramp spells in this deck also cost mainly 1-3 mana for efficiency.

Removal/Counterspells

Surprisingly, blue has a decent bit of removal. Cards like Pongify and Reality Shift are cheap (mana-wise) and don't have majorly influential downsides.

Several counterspells have been added to the deck to round out the removal/protection package. Like a lot of other cards in this deck, they have a cheap mana cost and therefore can be played without having to leave many lands untapped between turns.

There are 3 boardwipes in the deck.

Copy/Steal

This is the last major category in the deck. Since your opponents will likely have at least a couple good cards on the battlefield, you want to take their thing and make it yours. Some cards in this category become a copy of an opponent's card, some make tokens that copy an opponent's card, and some just outright steal it. These types of cards can be an alternate win condition, which is always important to have in case something goes wrong.

That's it for the deck; if you have any suggestions to improve it, please say so in the comments!
