Crafting an Army

Commander / EDH*

Maybeboard

Buff up Jor Kadeen with some equipments, throw in a bunch of tokens, and viola, you have a giant army of super tokens. Awesome sauce.

My first EDH on this site, or anywhere online, and the first one I'm actually making in real life. Needless to say It'll take awhile. I'm not made of money y'know. =P

Anyway, let's get down to business, shall we?

Win conditions:

1) Give a bunch of equipments to a creature and wipe your opponent out that way.

2) Abuse Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer's metalcraft ability with a ton of tokens and overwhelm your opponent -that- way.

3) Slap down Platinum Angel or Platinum Emperion and wait it out.

4) Hellkite Tyrant's win condition if you're lucky or if your opponent(s) happen to have a bunch of artifacts ;P

combos/strategies:

Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer is kind of the center of this deck, which makes sense, cuz he's, well, the commander. His metalcraft ability can be useful when you have a bunch of creatures out, and the easiest way of doing so is getting out those equipments.

So yeah, get out those equipments. Not too difficult if you've got Steelshaper's Gift, Stoneforge Mystic, or Stonehewer Giant.

What I like to do is tutor out some cards like Lightning Greaves, Champion's Helm, Darksteel Plate, or General's Kabuto to keep my monsters from most removal. Not foolproof, but fairly effective.

Once your creature(s) aren't going anywhere, buff them up offensively with Sword of Vengeance, Quietus Spike, Argentum Armor, or Sword of Kaldra.

Alternatively, you can go for an army of tokens, with cards like Assemble the Legion, Luminarch Ascension, or Myrsmith.

So you're already abusing Jor's metalcraft, but what else can tokens abuse? How about enchantments like Honor of the Pure, Intangible Virtue, or Cathars' Crusade?

why not combine both strategies? i mean, you -do- have the cards....ya know, like Kemba, Kha Regent and Darien, King of Kjeldor. Equip those suckers with some stuff and get a ton of tokens along the way.

All EDH's need to be at least -somewhat- defensive. Go nuts with Path to Exile, Oblivion Ring, Galvanic Blast, or Dispense Justice. Also, protect your artifacts with things like Leonin Abunas or Indomitable Archangel.

Funny combo time: Elemental Mastery+Cathars' Crusade essentially doubles all your creatures power/toughness every turn. =P

Another funny combo: Puresteel Paladin with cards like Swiftfoot Boots or Darksteel Plate along with Leonin Shikari. Equip whatever you want as an instant for zero mana. everything has hexproof/indestructible/whatever. Alternatively you could go for Lightning Greaves+Leonin Shikari if you don't have Puresteel Paladin out. =P

I think some notable singles are in order:

Hellkite Tyrant because there are never too many artifacts. Oh yeah, and that guy plus Mycosynth Lattice essentially just has your opponent hand over all their cards. Even if you don't have 20 artifacts at that point for some reason, the fact that your opponent has no land pretty much guarantees you the winner.

Gisela, Blade of Goldnight doubles all your damage and halves everything towards you. And isn't that basically boros in a nutshell?

Boros Charm because f**k board wipes. Alternatively, doublestrike can come in handy, especially with buffed up jor kadeen's commander damage and whatnot.

that's it for now. I'm sure there are other combos out there just begging to be discovered. But for now, I'd like to hear what y'all have to say about it. There sure are plenty of cards in the maybeboard....
