First go at a 5 colour EDH deck. I love Cromat, so have just built around trying to Voltron him to insane levels, although there are a couple of other win conditions in there.

There are a couple of infinite combos in the deck. First is with Deadeye Navigator, Gilded Lotus and Zealous Conscripts. Keep bringing Conscripts back and untapping the Lotus. Then with your infinite mana you can use the Conscripts to steal all your opponents' permanents at instant speed. Or have infinite card draw with Soul of the Harvest. Or have infinite basic land search with Solemn Simulacrum. There are undoubtedly more combos that I should have in here, but I just don't have the cards.

That combo is pretty hard to pull off however - it's three parts and mana-intensive, and with only one tutor of sorts (even if it can be flashbacked) I'd have to get pretty lucky to get it out. May have to include another tutor at some point.

The second infinite combo is with Composite Golem and Nin deathmantle. Sacrifice for 5 mana, bring back for only 4. It's a much better combo as it's only two cards and easier to play. Your infinite mana of any colour can then be used to Voltron up Cromat or play some hijinks with Zealous Conscripts and Deadeye Navigator if you have them out and not Gilded Lotus. Or if you want to be cruel, you can always destroy everything with Legacy Weapon .

Progenitus is another obvious win condition. Between Bloom Tender (if Cromat is already out), Doubling Cube , Elvish Piper, Time of Need (to find him) and Quicksilver Amulet , I hope to be able to get him out quickly. The lieges I've included can also passively make him quite a lot larger than just a 10/10 too.

I've tried to include the best lieges I have. Creakwood Liege and Murkfiend Liege are the best in my opinion, and I'd like to swap a couple of the others out for better lieges when I find them.

Other than that, it's a mess really. For a five colour deck, it hasn't got any of the instant kill or burn from black or red, no countering or card draw from blue, only a tad of ramp from green and hardly any exile or token generation from white. It's reall just a mess of cards that I really like/had in my collection that couldn't go in anything BUT a five colour deck mashed together, and as such, it really doesn't go in any direction very well.

I've goldfished against myself a few times against my more polished EDH deck. Even with a good selection of cards to start with, the deck lags behind on getting anything of import out by a turn or two; by the time I get something bigger than a 4/4 out, I'm already down to between 15-25 life. Yet if I put many more ramp and mana fixers in, it'll run the risk of creature-less draws.

Any advice, cards that are a must, opinions on the direction I should take etc, would be most appreciated. As I said, this is really only a very first attempt. As I learn what works and what would be better, I expect to make a multitude of changes.

Got rid of Ashenmoor Liege for Spearbreaker Behemoth. saw a friend using the beastie in an EDH game and thought it was pretty neat. Could give some stayability to my other creatures, and it's ability is colourless! Ashenmoor was okay, but I don't have many black creatures, nor is my win condition direct damage. With 1 toughness, maybe boosted to 2 or 3 with the other lieges, I don't think he was worth it, considering the awesomeness of the spearbreaker.

That said, it's just a trial for now. My green mana was getting a bit thin, so I removed a mountain in exchange for a forest. Will see how things go!
