This is my take on mono-black Doomsday, and yes Oloro, Ageless Ascetic is a valid mono-black general. Though I do splash a few `Esper' cards, namely lands to cast Oloro and Gitaxian Probe, you can remove them if you feel wrong about it.

This deck is designed for a medium competitive level, this mainly effects the artifact acceleration, lands, and tutors. I have been tuning this deck for a few months now and find it fairly consistent and fun. Being a mono black combo deck, we are a little weak to counter spells, removal, and really most cards with the type-line `Instant'. Our main counter to these are speed, multiple different win conditions, and redundancy. If this turns you away from the deck than I'd suggest a more traditional doomsday list.

But Why Not K'rrik?

I have recently seen quite a few list for mono black Doomsday, captained by K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth. I have two reasons for Oloro over K'rrik. 1. I came up with the idea and first iteration of this deck before K'rrik was spoiled. 2. This is a deliberately less competitive deck. We aim to win on turn 8 more often than turn four. This means the life loss becomes fairly relevant. I do think that K'rrik is a better fit for a faster, lower curve version of the deck.

Card Choices

• Massacre Girl, Toxic Deluge, Mutilate: Sweepers are good. We don't have many creatures so I'd say some sweepers are core. Feel free to run different one according to your preference.

• Mind Rake, Mind Twist, Hymn to Tourach: We don't have permission so discard is one of the best ways to protect our combo.

• Nihil Spellbomb: Graveyard hate that can crack doomsday piles.

• Plaguecrafter, Shriekmaw: Reanimatable removal.

• Animate Dead, Necromancy, Reanimate: Strong reanimation is one of the best archetypes in black.Victimize: This is core, it allows to reanimate Mike+ Trike/ Ballista in a single card.

• Cabal Coffers, Bubbling Muck, Crypt Ghast, Caged Sun, Nirkana Revenant: Mana doublers are some of the strongest ramp in our colour.

• Burnished Hart, Wayfarer's Bauble, Myriad Landscape: Work well with mana doublers.
• Dark Ritual: Gotta go fast!
• Mind Stone: Cracks doomsday piles.

• Talisman of Dominance: Feed the Vilis, Broker of Blood.

• Erebos, God of the Dead, Phyrexian Arena, Necropotence: Good Consistent Draw

• Ransack the Lab: This is core. Allows us to combo through our own Necropotence.
• Infernal Contract, Moonlight Bargain: Draws doomsday piles.
• Night's Whisper, Read the Bones, Sign in Blood: Just straight good.

• Street Wraith, Gitaxian Probe: Cheap cantrips.

• Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor: The best tutors in the format! Change my mind.

• Expedition Map: Gets Coffers, other lands, and COFFERS.
• Final Parting: I added this because Vilis, Broker of Blood+ Reanimate is way too much fun. Can also help set up Mike+ Trike.

• Praetor's Grasp: For bonus points, try winning with your opponents Laboratory Maniac.

• Insidious Dreams: It's like doomsday, but you don't have to sacrifice your soul to Cthulhu as part of the cost.

• Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, Triskelion, Walking Ballista, Viscera Seer, Yahenni, Undying Partisan: These are the go to combos, they're easy to setup without doomsday.
• Aetherflux Reservoir: Everyones favourite laser beam. Combo piece and also great with our commander.
• Bolas's Citadel, Sensei's Divining Top: Even without doomsday these can be solid win conditions. If pour back's against the wall we can dig and hope for Aetherflux.
• Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre: Combo's with Citadel, and is our only way to kill artifacts and enchantments.

• Zombie Infestation, Putrid Imp: Combo's with Citadel, which one you run is a matter of preference.

• Archfiend of Ifnir: Mostly just a cool looking cantrip.

• Josu Vess, Lich Knight: Army in a can. Honestly I just like him.
• Ophiomancer: Sometimes we want to block.
• Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Torment of Hailfire: Welcome to mono black.
• Doom Whisperer: Allows us to combo through our own Necropotence.
• Infernal Darkness: Slows down opponents and protects our combo.
• Vilis, Broker of Blood: The closest thing we have to Griselbrand.
• Ash Barrens, fetch lands: Make top slightly better. These could easily be Swamps.
• Fetid Pools: Cracks piles and cast the commander.
• Geier Reach Sanitarium: discard outlet and pile cracker.
• Godless Shrine, Watery Grave: I don't buy into the myth that you never want to cast Oloro. Phyrexian Arena is a good card.
• Witch's Cottage: Mostly just trying it.
