Basically big red with emphasis on the burn and phoenix's and some black splash for more solid removal. Boros burn seems to be where most people have taken this deck, I just wanted to try something slightly different.

With so many big creatures about (desecration demons, Poluks arbor colossus etc) I don't think mono red can cut it. BR has great removal at the moment and with BR scry lands coming out with born of the gods, I think this kind of deck has bags of potential.

Looking for any advice on the build in general.

Dreadbores - fill a similar role to chained to the rocks - takes care of most threats bar master of waves, whereas chained to the rocks can't handle stormbreaths. It's also much more relevant against control and to some degree G/r as it makes quick work of planeswalkers.

Hammer of purphoros - This is here purely for the late game due to all the lands I run. I was pretty underwhelmed by them at first but they've saved me late game more than once. I think they're pretty irreplaceable at the moment.

Frostburn weird - this has ended up replacing ember swallowers as both are essentially a wall for aggro. In an empty board this guy can also be getting in for 4 which is pretty nice. Gives good early devotion for the occasional ramp into an early stormbreath or monstrous.
