We all knew that Daxos was really black all along...cough cough. Anyways, I've always wanted to build an enchantment EDH deck other than voltron (I have an Uril deck), and the new Daxos the Returned is exactly what I was looking for. I like grindy, control-kind of decks (but not Stax or anything like that). Help with cards I am considering adding or taking out is greatly appreciated.

Still need to update the description below.

Current Cards on the Chopping Block

Bitterblossom - is it really worth it?

Myth Realized - feels great turn 1, but takes a long time to get going and terrible draw late game

Bastion Protector - it seems like Darksteel Plate would be more effective. I'm not swinging wide with my general in most cases, anyway.

Doomwake Giant - I like that he can clear tokens easily, but anything over 3/3 means I have to cast a lot of enchantments in one turn. I do like that he can be tutored for as an enchantment.

Deadly Tempest - A cool new card, but not sure if the 6-cost is worth it.

Cards I am considering

Gift of Immortality - seems very powerful with my General. Not 100% sure on how this card interacts with generals, though. I suppose they could use something like Scavenging Ooze to exile it when it hits the yard, but worst-case scenario I just send him back to my Command Zone.

Underworld Connections - extra draw, but makes one of my lands a target

Chromatic Lantern for additional ramp and mana fixing.

I like this deck list, but I want to sleeve and play it before I invest in it more (I already have all of these cards).

If I get serious and really like the deck, I will drop cash for:

Greater Auramancy
Damnation - possibly
Serra's Sanctum
Vampiric Tutor

Win Conditions

The obvious win condition is to create tokens with Daxos and beat your opponent into the dust. There are a number of support pieces that can help you achieve this.

Cards such as Intangible Virtue, Spear of Heliod, Elspeth, Knight-Errant, and Cathars' Crusade make your token army quite deadly.

Avacyn, Angel of Hope and Sigil of the Empty Throne can help dominate the late game.

An alternate win con is Starfield of Nyx. Who will see that coming?

Humility is probably the most grindy way to win with the deck. If you can get counters on your creatures or an artificial boost to your creatures, they will be more powerful than your opponents'.

Tutoring Package

A fairly standard tutoring package, including Demonic Tutor, Idyllic Tutor, Academy Rector, Liliana Vess, and Enlightened Tutor. It should be fairly easy to find the card that you need.

Removal Package

A lot of enchantments that can hit most anything: Banishing Light, Oblivion Ring, Quarantine Field, Grasp of Fate

Specific enchantment and artifact hate: Stony Silence, Aura of Silence, Disenchant

Standard instant-speed creature removal package including Dismember, Go for the Throat, Path to Exile, Slaughter Pact, and Swords to Plowshares

Doomwake Giant is a very interesting card. It remains to be seen as to how effective it will be.

Board wipes in the form of Toxic Deluge, Austere Command, Deadly Tempest, Martial Coup, Elspeth, Sun's Champion, and Wrath of God. Important because the deck will take a long time to set up and gain experience counters.

Card Draw

Phyrexian Arena, Erebos, God of the Dead, Sword of Fire and Ice, and Mesa Enchantress. I am considering adding Underworld Connections. One of the places the deck is currently weak in.

Recursion

Replenish to get all of the enchantments back. Sun Titan is just a staple here.

Necromancy to piss off your opponent who wants to Animate Dead early on or other such shenanigans (yes, it can be played at instant speed!)

Hate Cards

Stony Silence says no to artifacts.

Rest in Peace laughs at graveyards.

Erebos, God of the Dead sneers at Oloro.

Ramp Package

Sol Ring of course!

Land Tax, Liliana Vess, and Oreskos Explorer to search up lands. Black Market is quite effective after large board wipes. Expedition Map gets us utility lands. Finally, a few standard ramp artifacts such as Gilded Lotus and Thran Dynamo.

Sword of Feast and Famine can also effectively ramp towards bigger and more stuff.

Protection Package (Just say NO!)

This is where another control aspect of the deck comes in (besides board wipes). You should be able to significantly slow down your opponents with the likes of Ghostly Prison, Humility, Karmic Justice, Spear of Heliod, and Sphere of Safety.

On the other hand, protecting your commander is very important. Cards such as Lightning Greaves, Indestructibility, and Mother of Runes help us in this regard.

Mana Dumps

Heliod, God of the Sun and Daxos the Returned. Since Daxos can be recast over and over, this should be enough. In the event that he becomes too expensive to cast, tutoring for Heliod is another viable option.
