This is my first competitive modern deck that I'm building. If you're unfamiliar with affinity here's what you can do.
-Spill your hand on the board.
-Make Etched Champion or Inkmoth Nexus huge with Cranial Plating or Arcbound Ravager.
-Make every creature big with Steel Overseer and beat your opponent with many fliers.
I originally had Thoughtcast in the deck but I was recommended to try
Day's Undoing
in place of it. It is fantastic for this deck, you have to end your turn but if you're top-decking and your opponent is a control or a combo player, this can ruin their game while letting you spill your hand with eight more cards next turn (including the draw).
Sideboard:
-Relic of Progenitus is used against decks that use graveyard play like Storm, anything with Snapcaster Mage, and it neuters Tarmogoyf while you draw a card.
-
wear/tear
can act as a third Ancient Grudge for against the mirror or lantern control while also can be used against bogles or Stony Silence
-Dismember is brought in against big hitters like Siege Rhino, Gurmag Angler, or Tasigur, the Golden Fang.
-Grafdigger's Cage is brought in against Storm or Chord of Calling decks.
-Ancient Grudge is used against the mirror or lantern control. It can also be used against tron decks that run
Oblivion Stone
.
-Blood Moon screws with amulet bloom and tron and can also disrupt 3-color decks, especially when they aren't in red.
-Spell Pierce is one of the more versatile cards that comes in when countering one spell can set your opponent back hard.
-Thoughtseize is the other versatile card that can be used to pull out Emrakul, the Aeons Torn early, get rid of sideboard hate, or make them ditch their Splinter Twin.
-Torpor Orb is used to shut down decks that use ETB interactions like Twin.
-
Whipflare
comes in against aggressive tribal decks or decks that spit out tokens.
