Use Axebane Guardian + Defenders to ramp into the many wincons in this deck. Sovereigns of Lost Alara is simply to have a good way to tutor auras. The point of this deck is more for fun than anything, so while I could have Door to Nothingnesss or 4x Banefires, I'd prefer to have one of each win condition, that way there's more variety in each game.
Ludevic's Test Subject
is in there to act as a defender when ramp is needed, or as a wincon when there is enough ramp or when there aren't any wincons in hand.
Here is a list of wincons and other core elements:
Axebane Guardian + Freed from the Real
- Infinite mana when another defender is in play. The MVPs of this deck.
Perimeter Captain, Fog Bank and Overgrown Battlement are other defenders that add to Axebane Guardian's ramp ability. Drift of Phanstasms tutors for Axebane Guardian or Freed from the Real.
Wargate - It can tutor for many of the wincons in this deck, but oftentimes, I actually end up tutoring for Freed from the Real
With the infinite mana, Banefire and
Mind Grind
are automatic wins, assuming they don't get countered or redirected.
Ludevic's Test Subject
- A defender for ramp that becomes a huge 13/13 trample when ramp is available.
Boonweaver Giant - When it comes into play attach Eldrazi Conscription, Celestial Mantle, or Angelic Destiny to it.
Sovereigns of Lost Alara - A good way to find Eldrazi Conscription, Celestial Mantle, or Angelic Destiny.
It That Betrays - Huge body, makes your opponent sacrifice permanents, AND gets you those permanents! What more could you ask for?
Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur - Ruins control decks and Opens up even more wincons for me.
Eldrazi Conscription - Put it on anything that's not a defender.
Gelatinous Genesis - infinity infinity/infinity Ooze tokens? Yeah, I'll take that.
Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker - An overall good card. Removal on a stick, an ult that basically wins the game, and a way to gain control of a threat on the other side of the board.
Enter the Infinite + Laboratory Maniac
- Mill yourself out and win.
Suggestions and +1s appreciated. Credit to Daveyredclaws for the inspiration from his deck Nicol Bolas, Bantwalker and UrbanAnathema for his similar deck, The Source Wall.
