Ended up going 4-1 tonight, taking 3rd place. I would first like to mention how much I love Faithless Looting, seeing one every game I played last night allowed me to dig enough cards to find my answers and pitch dead cards that were just bad against some of the matchups which include:
Round 1: Rakdos Aggro (2-1)
Game 1, I knew the player and that they always played this deck, so I kept a hand with 2 land (Blood Crypt
/Clifftop Retreat), Doom Blade, Searing Spear, Boros Reckoner, Faithless Looting, Blood Baron of Vizkopa. Good keep, dig, removal, and a wall. Just never saw the 3rd land before I was facing a Desecration Demon and had to scoop.
Game 2, Side in: 2x Blood Baron of Vizkopa 2x Celestial Flare, Devour Flesh, Rolling Temblor. Side Out: Assemble the Legion, 2x Aurelia, the Warleader, 2x Obzedat, Ghost Council, Ratchet Bomb. Easy win, got mana to play a Boros Reckoner, drew the Celestial Flare to deal with her Desecration Demon, got a Blood Baron of Vizkopa and swung until the game was over.
Game 3, No Sideboard Changes. Kept a creatureless hand, opponent played a Desecration Demon which met an Ultimate Price, and got an Underworld Connections online to draw into double Blood Baron of Vizkopa.
Match 2: Boros Aggro (2-0)
Game 1: Hand had 3 land, a Boros Reckoner, Searing Spear, Faithless Looting, and Blood Baron of Vizkopa. Drew into a t2 Ratchet Bomb which sat at 2 and then proceeded to win through not many creatures with 3/x to deal with Boros Reckoner until a Blood Baron of Vizkopa hit the field with a Slayers' Stronghold on his back.
Game 2: Side in: 2x Blood Baron of Vizkopa Ratchet Bomb Rolling Temblor. Side Out: 2x Assemble the Legion, Faithless Looting, Rakdos's Return. Just got the nut draw for anti aggro with 3x Boros Reckoner, Ratchet Bomb, and 3 Land. Played all 3 Boros Reckoners, however the opponent played an Assemble the Legion which I now had to race. Olivia Voldaren Pinged the tokens and flew over his creatures after having to trade an Aurelia, the Warleader for a Firemane Avenger and popping Ratchet Bomb to kill Nearheath Pilgrim before the battalion trigger. Tokens didn't attack into the boros reckoners even with one Fiend Hunter'd, and eventually drew into a Thundermaw Hellkite to end the game.
Match 3: Bant Hexproof (2-0)
Game 1: This game started in a brutal beating in which a Fencing Ace beat me to 4, having been gives Spectral Flight and Unflinching Courage. I eventually drew the second white mana to cast Celestial Flare and followed that up with a Blood Baron of Vizkopa the next turn. Him followed by a Aurelia, the Warleader allowed me to get back to 12 life before he casted Supreme Verdict. Then ending the game by casting a Searing Spear and Warleader's Helix to the face.
Game 2: Side in: 2x Blood Baron of Vizkopa, 2x Celestial Flare, Devour Flesh, Rolling Temblor, 3x Slaughter Games Ratchet Bomb Wear / Tear. Side Out: 2x Boros Reckoner, 2x Doom Blade, 2x Dreadbore, 2x Olivia Voldaren, Rakdos's Return, Searing Spear, Ultimate Price. This game ended up with me having Slaughter Gamesing his Unflinching Courage and Geist of Saint Traft both of which were in his hand. After that he didn't have much to win as a Blood Baron of Vizkopa took the game.
Match 4: Big Red (1-2)
Game 1: Best game of the night. the opponent started really aggressive with T2 Ash Zealot, T3 Chandra's Phoenix, T4 Pillar of Flame (down to 8.). T5 I play Obzedat, Ghost Council to go to 10. T6, she plays Thundermaw Hellkite doing 9 damage. my T6 I go to 3 (her 16) and play Aurelia, the Warleader to swing for 16 and game.
Game 2: Sided out 2x Assemble the Legion 2x Aurelia, the Warleader, Faithless Looting, 2x Obzedat, Ghost Council 2x Olivia Voldaren, Rakdos's Return, Ratchet Bomb. Side in: 2x Blood Baron of Vizkopa 2x Celestial Flare, Devour Flesh, 2x Sin Collector, 3x Slaughter Games, Rolling Temblor. This game was a swift loss to Burning Earth and having Mizzium Mortars kill my Blood Baron of Vizkopa.
Game 3: Side in: 2x Ratchet Bomb, Wear / Tear. Side Out: Boros Reckoner, 2x Underworld Connections. Got both my Ratchet Bombs, but she never played a Burning Earth and so I eventually got eaten by 3 Thundermaw Hellkites, two of which I removed.
Match 5: Omnidoor Thragfire (2-1)
I do not remember much about these games. G1 I lost to Door to Nothingness after a long combo and him fogging my lethal damage. G2 got him to 7 and got a Searing Spear + Warleader's Helix. G3 Ended after landing a Sire Of Insanity alongside a Assemble the Legion at 5 Muster Counters, he had sided out all of his other win-cons (only had Kessig Wolf Run, Rhox Faithmender, and Thragtusk, no Worldfire, Door to Nothingness, or Borborygmos Enraged/Enter the Infinite).
Came in 3rd place.
