Derevi has been both a favorite and a conundrum for me. The resilient bird wizard had my interest, but I never knew how to play the deck. Do I go tribal wizards? Birds? Tap and untap shenanigans? Prison Stax? Recently my friends and I have been creating Commander decks using only modern-bordered cards. When I found out Derevi was being reprinted in Commander Anthologies, I knew that I had to try and give it another go.

This deck focuses on control; playing a tempo game with aggressively-costed cards like removal and counters alongside tax cards to remain in control of the game. Bant (GWU) has plenty of control cards to lend to this strategy. As you will see, I don't have a lot of expensive cards in the deck (Force of Will, etc) just because I'm more of a budget player.
