Introduction

I was trying to make a combo deck abusing Nettle Drone from Battle for Zendikar. I was thinking of using Ornithopter and Memnite along with Cloudstone Curio, but then I saw this deck: http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/reconstructed/no-rares-all-modern-combo-2015-10-19. However, I thought this would be a better pauper deck, so I tried to convert it to one. A lot of effort later, I came up with this deck.

The Combo

Step 1: Play Nettle Drone .

Step 2: Play Kozilek's Sentinel .

Step 3: Play Retraction Helix on Nettle Drone , allowing it to tap to return something to it's owner's hand.

Step 4: Play A Zero- Mana artifact.

Step 5: Tap Nettle Drone , returning the Zero- Mana artifact to its owner's hand. Play the Zero- Mana artifact again, giving Kozilek's Sentinel +1/+0. Repeat as necessary.

Each Card's Role

Nettle Drone - The best combo piece, as it can be both a valid retraction target as well as a win- con with the pinging.

Battered Golem - Another valid retraction target, it has the benefit of being able to be regenerated with welding jar.

Retraction Helix and Banisher's Knack- Key cards in the deck, they are needed to return the zero- mana artifacts to your hand.

Welding Jar- A zero- mana artifact that has the upside of being able to regenerate Battered Golem.

Herbal Poultice - Another zero mana artifact, it can regenerate each of the creatures at a cost.

Elusive Spellfist - A good win- con because it gains unblockable.

Kozilek's Sentinel - A near- strictly worse Elusive Spellfist in the deck, but still a viable win- condition.

Counterspell and Daze- Useful cards to protect your combo.

Ponder and Preordain- They can dig through your deck to find the combo pieces.

Sideboarding

Most of the time, you'll want to sideboard out the Kozilek's Sentinel , some of the deck manipulation, and one of the 0 mana artifacts.

Smelt - Good against any decks with a significant amount of artifacts. They are better then Smash to Smithereens because the extra damage isn't needed.

Hydroblast and Pyroblast- Good against red decks and blue decks respectively.

Dispel- Great against any decks with counterspells.

Eletrikery- Burn wrecks our deck, and this handles it well.

Flame Slash- Any deck with creatures.
