This is the fifth draft of my first Tiny Leaders deck. My LGS will play a Tiny Leaders FNM and this seems like a fun and relatively inexpensive option.

The idea is to mana ramp into large X-spells, make a large Omnath, etc.

Win conditions:- Beats with fatties- Budoka Gardener Elementals- Rancor + Omnath/Dungrove Elder/Scute Mob- Primordial Hydra

The removal suite will probably need some work. As it currently stands:- Ulvenwald Tracker- Beast Within- Reclamation SageThe two creatures can be tutored with chord, zenith, and yisan.

Notable exemptions:

  • Horn of Greed - Don't get me wrong, the card advantage is nuts, especially if played on turn 4 w/land drop. The problem is against removal-heavy decks. I need a few turns to set up an unbeatable board and I can't do that if my opponent's lands are feeding them kill spells. If they are not, then it makes the deck for sure! I have it relegated to the sideboard for now, but it may go main if removal-heavy decks are lower in number at my LGS.

  • Crop Rotation - This card is great to search up Nykthos for explosive draws. I exchanged it for Rancor since the latter helps me win the game. I think that tutoring Nykthos is a "win more" approach, though I may be wrong.

  • Killer Bees - Evasive creatures with firebreathing is amazing for a ramp deck. Unfortunately, the bees are a non-bo with Omnath.

Cards I want to try:

  • Tuskguard Captain - Quite a number of my creatures wind up with +1/+1 counters. This guy gives them all trample. I would love to find a spot for it.

Here is my FNM breakdown and initial impressions:

Round 1 (Zo Zu, Punishing Burn, 2-0) - I stopped making land drops after turn four and beat him down before he could burn me out both games. It got a little close since he had Guttersnipe both games, but my creature density topped his spell density.

Round 2 (Sygg, Mill, 2-0) - My opponent milled me down to 4 cards both games, and in both games my powerful creatures got the job done!

Round 3 (Grenzo, Goblin Tribal, 2-0) - This matchup didn't feel very fair. My opponent was playing synergistic creatures every turn, but I was still overpowering him with Omnath and company. I cast Beast Within on Omnath to avoid a Chaos Warp.

Round 4 (Jenara, Enchantress, 2-1) - I barely won this match. It's very difficult to win game one since I'm usually locked out of attacking with a couple layers of enchantments. I got lucky in game 1 and killed him the turn before he could go off. Game 2 was a slow death in an entertaining game. Game 3 was a race - Scute Mob and Omnath versus Blighted Agent. I went to 5 poison by turn 4. He played a bunch of enchantments and ethereal armor, attacked for lethal, and was met by my sideboarded Back to Nature. I killed him with about 25 power of attackers. I still don't think I'm favored in this matchup.

OVERALL - The deck is VERY powerful. The creatures surpass the other fair decks I've seen, save for Ezuri pumping elves by +15/+15 or merfolk dealing 18 damage out of nowhere.I had trouble with merfolk decks in playtesting and fortunately didn't see any this time around. I didn't play against the lone geist deck, which I imagine is an interesting matchup, especially all the blue hate in my sideboard.

I want to add Seedtime to the board if blue decks are more prolific.

I swapped out Frontier Guide and Kodama's Reach for Setessan Tactics and Hornet Nest.
