This is my first try at a competitive deck upon playing Magic for about a month. I really fell in love with the Dimir playstyle and am trying to make Dimir as competitive as possible while making use of it's most prominent key words like mill and cipher.

This deck is basically your blue control deck with added Dimir flavor.Having a one drop that is a walking counter along with flying to take advantage of Cipher is amazing. Cipher is a keyword that gets a lot of flack for being far too expensive for the relatively subpar effects they give you. MY goal is to show that Cipher can be useful in standard play. Now, in my month long roller coaster ride with Cipher I have found that a whole deck utilizing unblockables and a bunch of different Cipher spells is just.... well, awful. In order to utilize Cipher you need a ton of control. In other words you should sprinkle Cipher to help your control, not the other way around. Let your Cipher help your control aspect as opposed to control helping your Cipher aspect.... if that makes any sense, obviously articulating TCG decks is not my greatest writing strength. Or maybe I am not thinking correctly right now... Nevertheless...

Hands of Binding is amazing early game in tandem with Judges Familiar or even a Desecration Demon and helps out against Aggro, while making the mid range match up even easier, in my experience.

The four drop Cipher spells have been a bit more difficult for me to decide upon. In the end Call of The Nightwing proves most useful by being the most innately aggressive Cipher card, also gives me much needed chump blockers. Not a bad card, man.

Jace and Consuming aberration are best friends. I don't look to mill my opponent out as a win condition, but they certainly can make this a possibility. And they do so often enough. Ashiok can help out as well. Funny story, I actually once milled my opponent out with only Ashiok, He was running BANT, eh it was kind of ridiculous.

Not much else to say I guess. There are several cards I am looking to get that may be more optimal than some cards in this list. Such as Jace, Architect Of Thought, if I did have one, he would most definitely make his way in here.
