I'm fairly new to Magic and have been playing Dimir ever since Gatecrash. Also, this is my first time on Tappedout.net. Though I'm an extremely casual player, I was hoping that this community could help me out on how to improve my favorite deck. Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thanks, guys.
My goal of this deck is to either mill my opponent completely or do massive damage in very few swings with Consuming Aberration paired with an unblockable spell. If time takes a toll on my life total, Crypt Incursion is there to pull me through.
The cards listed are already in my possession, though I'm looking to buy more in the future. I know that I'll be purchasing two more Mind Funerals in the near future. Also, I'll be getting a Mindcrank and a Phenax, God of Deception for combo purposes. I was wondering what I should be eliminating in order to make room for at least 4 more cards.
These are some of the questions and comments that I have concerning this deck:
Artful Dodge or Aqueous Form?
Should I drop the two Tome Scour for more
Mind Sculpt
or simply replace them with the two Mind Funeral? Which of these two early mill cards, if not both, should be kept?
I love
Pilfered Plans
for the draw but are they worth including or do they just take up space?
Duskmantle Seer
and
Circu, Dimir Lobotomist
are included for experimental purposes. I recently bought them because they seemed interesting. Are they worth it? I've not gotten to play them in a game yet. If I need room,
Duskmantle Seer
will most likely be one of the first to go.
Mind Grind
is, of course, a fairly reliable game-ender.
Jace's Phantasm and
Lazav, Dimir Mastermind
are there in order to do creature things.
I'm a little heavy on the five-drops. Is Mirko Vost, Mind Drinker worth running?
How could I improve consistency?
I have a few removal spells like Murder,
Grisly Spectacle
, and Doom Blade. What are some thoughts on those? I also own a few
Far / Away
. I use
Soul Ransom
to potentially eliminate creatures and draw cards.
What about guildgates? I have a playset of
Dimir Guildgate
but wasn't sure if the "comes into play tapped" thing was worth it.
When it comes to a side board, I don't really have one. I have a stack of around 60 or so cards that could have potential but can't decide on a sideboard. Those cards include more early mill, removal, Ciphers, counters like Psychic Strike, and other U/B creatures. What does a sideboard for this deck need? Removal? Blockers?
Like I mentioned above, I'm just looking for some feedback from some more experienced players. I'd love to hear any thoughts, concerns, or suggestions that you guys may have.
