Sideboard

Maybeboard

Planeswalker (2)

Land (1)

Standard Saprolings Token. Swarm them with tokens that are buffed by Sporecrown Thallid and Tendershoot Dryad. The dryad is the monster in this deck as if it sticks around, it will be generating a token every turn. There are also interactions with Slimefoot, the Stowaway help punish board wipes, and also to help against control by interacting with Fungal Plots to slowly drain if you need to hold back. Skysovereign, Consul Flagship can help fly over an opposing board and slowly ping down creatures or planeswalkers. Also an early Driven / Despair can really give you the upper hand as aggro decks won't be able to recover and you make control decks pitch all of their answers.

I have not played magic in a few years, so any advice is welcome as I have no idea what the standard environment is like.

Update 2: After this weekend I have removed Metallic Mimic and put in more Fatal Push, Driven / Despair, and a single of Growing Rites of Itlimoc   and Journey to Eternity  .

Update: Removed Song of Freyalise and Fungal Infection, Walking Ballista and 1 forest. Added Metallic Mimic, Blossoming Defense, Fatal Push, a Fungal Plots main, and another Tendershoot Dryad. I was play testing against a mono black control deck. I found the deck is pretty vulnerable to board wipes and if you lose all your creatures song is a dead card. This feels like it should play aggressive and without a ton of mana walking ballista never got very big. The mimics buff your saprolings and also go to the graveyard for fungal plots and Liliana interaction. I think I was in between aggro and midrange and this pushes it a bit more to the aggro side. The fungal plots will allow a response to saprolings dying provide some graveyard interaction. Fungal infection seemed pretty weak, but I was playing a controlish deck that didn't have any small creatures. Will re-evaluate after tonight's fnm

Played a lot this weekend. went 0-3 at FNM not winning a single game. Got blown out by r/g aggro, w/u control, and something else. Decided that the Metallic Mimics needed to come out. While I think they synergize really well, with so much removal in the format the lord needs to have an immediate impact. I got 2 more Blooming Marsh so I added those just to solidify the mana base. I added another Fatal Push, Driven / Despair, and also am trying out Journey to Eternity  Flip and Growing Rites of Itlimoc  Flip

After FNM I went 2-1 at a standard showdown. The first round I played against my friend's mono black control that I always lose to. Second round I blew out a r/g aggro list by removing his mana dork with fatal push and then turn 2 Saproling Migration turn 3 Sporecrown Thallid turn 4 Driven / Despair. Drawing 3 and making them discard 3 is very powerful and he wasn't able to catch back up. I managed to do this both games. Third round was a budgetish list of u/w control, not running any walkers or History of Benalia so I just played around Fumigate and Settle the Wreckage and slowly chipped away at him. Second game I got a Skysovereign, Consul Flagship out and killed him a bit faster. I am pretty sure both of these games I hit him with a driven//despair for 2 as well. This card can really do work.

Played another showdown on Sunday.I got destroyed again by a flying r/g list with phoenixes and glorybringer's. I then won against the counter surge challenger deck and a r/b control list.

Overall happy with how the deck is at this point, probably update the sideboard with a bit of graveyard hate, but we will see how next week's FNM goes.
