Don't get in the way of Fate

Sideboard

This deck looks to keep the board clean early with kill spells like Abrupt Decay, Ultimate Price, and Hero's Downfall, then ride tough-to-kill creatures to victory. Agent of the Fates ties it all together nicely by clearing a path for himself as Auras and other spells target him.

THE MAIN BEATSTICKS

Lotleth Troll: Built-in trample and pump plus a one-mana regenerate make this guy one of the best one-man-shows in the game. He provides a safe body for Auras or can be a tough defender while another attacker goes to work.

Agent of the Fates: The inspiration for this deck. He's not as invulnerable as the others, but there are ample ways to protect him here, and forcing the opponent to sac a creature every time he's targeted can result in a blowout. At the very least, you're not getting 2-for-1'd if the opponent figures out a way to remove him after he's pumped. And go ahead and leave those Devour Flesh at home; you won't be needing them. Deathtouch is a pretty nice ability too; it goes to show how nasty this guy is that it's almost an afterthought.

Fabled Hero: In terms of sheer power, it doesn't get any better than this Hero. Pump him with a Boon Satyr or Unflinching Courage and things get out of hand in a hurry.

Reaper of the Wilds: Another guy who's just a house. Built-in Deathtouch and Hexproof make him a tough out, and the Scry ability works nicely with all the kill spells and Agent of the Fates.

OTHER CREATURES

Sylvan Caryatid: An early defender who mana-fixes and ramps. What's not to love?

Herald of Torment: Obviously, the main purpose here is to turn him into an Aura for the above beatsticks, but if you're loaded with pumps and short on creatures, a 3/3 flyer isn't a bad fallback.

PUMPS, PROTECTION, & AURAS

Gods Willing: Color protection that triggers Heroic for one mana is tough to top, and there's a bonus Scry. This can thwart kill spells or Exiles like Detention Sphere and Chained to the Rocks, be used to survive combat, or can make a guy unblockable.

Boon of Erebos: A lot of overlap with Gods Willing, except Regeneration can be used to survive boardwipes like Supreme Verdict, doesn't risk losing Auras, and the power pump shouldn't be overlooked either. If used on a creature with Unflinching Courage or Gift of Orzhova, you won't miss the 2 life for long.

Selesnya Charm: No one would deny that this is a great card, but it really shines here. The pump & trample works nicely with Heroic creatures & those that already have Lifelink, and the Exile option takes care of some creatures that are immune to regular kill spells, such as Thassa, God of the Sea and other Gods. Finally, if you're short on creatures but filled with pumps, you could do worse than piling them onto a creature with Vigilance.

Gift of Orzhova: Lifelink is a terrific ability that allows aggressive attacking, especially when teamed with pumps, and Flying helps the beatsticks avoid pesky blockers. It's also nice to be able to block the creatures of popular decks like Mono Blue and Black, who abuse flyers like Cloudfin Raptor, Nightveil Specter, and Desecration Demon.

Unflinching Courage: More Lifelink, and a bigger pump teamed with Trample. Flying is normally the preferred form of evasion, but since half of the beatsticks here have Deathtouch (not to mention Double Strike), Trample isn't a bad way to push damage across.

KILL SPELLS

Abrupt Decay: Since most of the creatures here are 3+ drops (yes, that includes Lotleth Troll), most of the kills here are cheaper. This one is the most limited in terms of creature removal, but its flexibility extends to Detention Sphere and Chained to the Rocks, cheap Planeswalkers like Domri Rade and Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver, or whatever else is troubling you.

Doom Blade: Another 2-drop removal option; just a one-of main in case the opponent is playing Black.

Ultimate Price: Get the pattern yet? Like Doom Blade, I don't want to get stuck with multiples if it's not the right answer, so it's also a one-of.

Hero's Downfall: I'll allow a 3-drop if it means no-strings-attached removal that can also deal with Planeswalkers.
