My friend bought me the prebuilt black/green Eventide deck for my birthday one year as the first deck I owned. Over the past decade it has slowly turned into this.

In its current form, it doesn't always win but it is a powerhouse of beatdown fun. Thanks to Woodlurker Mimic heavy hitters start early. The trick is to keep her activated, hence everything is black/green. The 14 destructo spells (Abrupt Decay, Putrefy, Maelstrom Pulse, and Drain the Well ) help with that as well as general crowd control, giving the Shamans room to work.

I love the shamans. They (Deathrite Shaman, Golgari Guildmage , and Korozda Guildmage give me lots of options. Options are good. And seeing as they need bodies to play with Golgari Germination brings plenty of ammunition to the party.

Endgame? Well if they haven't been overwhelmed with tokens from Creakwood Liege then there is the combo. Creakwood pumps out a token, Doomgape eats the token (you gain life) and Savra, Queen of the Golgari makes everyone else sac something as well.

Also, have you ever put a Gift of the Deity on an Odious Trow ? Let me tell you: priceless! Because now they committed to block a 3/3 Deathtouch, Lure, Regenerating Trow.

Then Doomgape eats you.
