Maybeboard

Overpower the Enemy

"His verdict is always guilty. His sentence is always death."

From sly cunning to brute strength, call upon vampiric forces to crush and control the opposing armies.

The Art of Compulsion

"Do not flatter Fate. It did not guide you into my clutches tonight. That was all my doing."

Infiltrate your enemy's mind and compel them. Watch the opposition writhe in pain as you extract the most powerful spells from their mind; they will be powerless to stop you!

Annihilate the Battlefield

"Many peasants secretly admire vampires' glamour and elegance - until they witness a moment of pure bloodlust."

Decimate the battlefield with poisonous rain and black magic to put the odds back in your favor.

Conjure Dark and Powerful Magic

"Hate is an everlasting wellspring from which it is eternally sustained."

Draw power from the darkest of forces to cast incredibly lethal spells or summon the most powerful minions to do your bidding.

Drain your Enemy's Life Force

"Your blood is quite pleasing. A pity there's not enough for both of us."

Siphon power directly from your opponents own energy becoming more powerful as the battle continues.

There are a couple of different ways to play the game with Drana. Go for early Drana cast and beef her up with Blade of the Bloodchief and Lashwrithe to start swinging 21 Damage and pick off higher priority targets with Drana's ability ASAP.
Go for long game and Exsanguinate for massive amounts combined with Nirkana Revenant / Bubbling Muck / Cabal Coffers / Caged Sun etc.. and the dual efforts of Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond

(I rarely play this combo and I'd suggest the same for anyone. This is a last resort type thing because it's a cheap win and you don't want to be known as "that guy" the same can be said for the -3 on Sorin Markov which is why he's in the sideboard).

Up against a tough match up? No you're not. Life's Finale Bitter Ordeal and Sadistic Sacrament will simply demolish their deck's collection goodies. This is a great way to handle Black's inability to get rid of enchantments and artifacts without the use of things like Spine of Ish Sah

Pros:
+ Lots of Creature Control
+ Lots of Card Advantage through Draw and Tutor
+ Potential for incredible amounts of Ramp
+ Loads of Black Flavor

Cons:
- No way to deal with problematic Enchantments or Artifacts without investing in expensive Artifacts like Spine of Ish Sah
- Sticking to a Vampire theme disallows the use of some Mono-Black bombs and staples (Creature wise)

Small Disclaimer:

If you want to suggest something that is in my Maybeboard, *please* also suggest something that I should remove in it's place and maybe a reason why you would replace it.

Updates Add

First time looking at this deck in a while, just a few changes. I emptied the maybeboard and put in all of the new vampires that I've seen since Innistrad. I have yet to make decisions on what to take out and put in.

Out: Subterranean Hangar Liliana of the Dark Realms

In: Cabal Stronghold Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord
