Niv-Mizzet is one of my favorite commanders, but I've been struggling to give him a unique taste yet keep him strong in my meta, who play aggressive creature-heavy decks.

I opt for redirection and copy spells like Redirect, Wild Ricochet, and Twincast in place of counterspells more-so to handle my opponent's spells (enchantment removal, creature removal, mess-with-my-face-and-hand spells). We play almost exclusively large multiplayer games, and I find counterspells aren't the best use of my own resources, so I find it more fun to use other people's spells for other people's crap.

Unconditional removal spells like Reality Shift, Chaos Warp, and Curse of the Swine are in there because my group loves indestructible things like gods.

Other peculiarities might be the Polymorphist's Jest and Corrupted Conscience. The former is very useful when the player with the most board presence decides to swing at someone else. The latter is either for stealing other people's large creatures or for enchanting Niv-Mizzet himself for the infect shenanigans.
