Edgar Markov, Glorious Leader

Commander / EDH

SeroShii

Edgar Markov looks to build value in the early game, before pumping everything up and going for a big flashy kill!

This deck is aggressive but it's realistic as to how much damage you can deal in a multiplayer format. It uses pump spells and anthems to help kill players in one shot as well as cards that sneak a bunch of damage in out of no-where. Your first few turns will see you setting up your value engines or casting cheap ramp while amassing a small army of vampires. Turn 4+ You'll be dropping anthem, after anthem, after lord, after lord and watching players drop.

We've got a bunch of cards in here to ensure we don't run out of gas and can keep the pressure on such as Skullclamp, Heirloom Blade, Vanquisher's Banner and everything else in the Card Advantage section. Part of that means protecting our creatures from board wipes, which are pretty common in Commander! We can do this with Eldrazi Monument or by looping Selfless Spirit with Sun Titan and Bishop of Rebirth. Another card you could consider to assist with board wipe prevention is Kindred Boon But it's pretty mana intensive.

Our choices of vampires are pretty sensible, we're playing all of the lords such as Captivating Vampire and Stromkirk Captain and all of the good value creatures for multiplayer. We're trying to avoid aggro weenie creatures that will become outclassed as much as possible! We want our draws to always be relevant!

Purphoros, God of the Forge Deals four damage to EACH player every time you cast a vampire. Reckon we can cast 10 in a game? Other mass damage dealing cards include Crescendo of War, which pumps everybody's stuff (ours' more) and Price of Progress which can do a huge chunk of damage at once.

Building a tribal deck is a lot of fun and a really cool challenge, it's cool to use different cards than the usual and be rewarded for it. Like, half of my removal suite are vampires as opposed to the spells I'd put in every commander deck. How cool is that? I really encourage giving tribal a try if you struggle with creating a deck that's the right level of comptetiveness if that makes sense? Giving yourself that restriction to one creature type means you can't go overboard on staples.

This deck was built to a $500ish budget but could absolutely be brought down to the $200 mark or less by pulling out the fetch lands and Mana Crypt as well as a couple of the other non-essential pricey cards. If you want to go the other way, this mana base is far from optimised but it's pretty smooth and uses things a lot players will own such as checks and shocks. Thanks for taking a look at my Edgar Markov deck and I hope you were able to take something cool away from it!
