Creature (3)

Instant (4)

Sure do love me some Esper; always have, always will...

So,two weeks have come and gone and this is what I have come up with after watching other uw/uwb decks online (though to my credit, I did have the preliminary list for this build a few days after the full set was spoiled).

Mainboard

2 AEtherling - One of the best control finishers ever printed (creaturewise), though I will say, if the gw deck keeps winning I will audible to Blood Baron of Vizkopa.

3 Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver - A solid 3 cmc planeswalker, though once again, if the gw deck keeps winning it will have to either go to the sb or get cut completely if control isn't a thing (not too worried about that).

4 Azorius Charm - I don't think a uw based control deck can function without it,though it is lousy against Voice of Resurgence

2 Detention Sphere - Decent catchall. Sometimes it's great, other times...

3 Dissolve - I had more countermaguc in the deck before, but the gw deck requires straight up answers, not I hope I have this in hand a the right time answers. Plus it sucks against Loxodon Smiter and a resolved Voice of Resurgence.

3 Doom Blade - All around good kill spell; especially when black creatures are not too popular at the moment.

2 Elspeth, Sun's Champion - This planeswalker is just awesome. I would be willing to try 3, though I feel 6 cmc may be too much to have that many in the deck. She comes down and stalls the board, and slowly builds to an ultimate you will only have to use once after you are able to stabilize the board.

3 Hero's Downfall - One of the main reasons I wanted to play black in the first place. Kills creatures? Check. Kills planeswalkers? Check. Seems fine to me...

4 Jace, Architect of Thought - I mean it's Jace... He makes aggro less aggressive and llows you to draw extra cards against control.

4 Sphinx's Revelations - Some people are only playing 3, this may become correct if other black based controls decks fall off the map, but as long as Thoughtseize and Sin Collector are played cards, I want the full playset.

4 Supreme Verdict - I love wrath effects a lot, so I would naturally run 4, right?

Sideboard

2 Blood Baron of Vizkopa - This guy has gone in and out of this deck so many times, it's almost hilarious. He was in the initial list, but was then dropped in favor of Prognostic Sphinx which of course got dropped for the Baron again, which got dropped when it kept dying to everyone's Mizzium Mortars, but it is back again, since it is just the nuts against gw aggro.

1 Dissolve - Sometimes you just want the fourth.

3 Glare of Heresy - Obviously for the gw aggro deck, since it kills like 90% of their dudes. Also splash damage against opposing Elspeth, Sun's Champion.

2 Merciless Eviction - This is experimental at the moment, but it seems really good against the gw deck and is generally good as the fifth and sixth wraths if you need them. Also able to exile gods. Evicting a god from its home, that is merciless!

3 Sin Collector - Great against control and the aggro decks being played right now as a blocker and a way to preemptively kill an Advent of the Wurm token or Rootborn Defenses.

4 Thoughtseize - Just a great tool against the control decks. Couple this with Sin Collector and Dissolve andd it becomes incredibly difficult for your opponents to cast Sphinx's Revelation (or any other intant/sorcery).
