The next big thing. This is in no way a complete deck. I am still testing it out and having problems fitting everything into the deck.

Flashback

The theme of the deck is flashback so we'll start there.

Lingering Souls: Probably the most widely played card in modern that has flashback, it generates value like nothing in its class. With 1 card you generate creatures and all without having to tap out. A lot of the time this card can just read "Gain 16 life, and get two extra draw steps."

Think Twice: Its like... Like if... It's instant speed divination... But better! You see, I can leave up counter mana every turn after the first one and if you don't end up using the mana for A counter you can still be mana efficient.

Mystical Teachings: The namesake card for modern Esper Teachings. All that matters is that it is good and has flashback. I'm only running 1 main 1 side because I couldn't fit any more cards in the deck.

Snapcaster Mage: He doesn't technically have flashback, but he does have the word flashback. I'm only running 2 because so many of my spells cost more than 2 or already have flashback

Grave Fillers

Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  : The exciting new addition to esper. I've tested Esper GeistFang, Esper Mentor, Esper Geist, Esper Delve Control, and USA using him and I'm certain I've found his modern home (outside of Grixis Abbot (Or 'Blue Jund)). He allows us to tap draw a card then discard an irrelevant card or a card with flashback so that we even get some value out of the card we discard. In a deck like this filling up our graveyard quickly is inevitable, and protecting him is fairly easy.

Liliana of the Veil: She does a similar thing to jayce, except instead of generating extra value she hurts the opponent and we don't always lose an entire card. Plus she's just good.

Tasigur, the Golden Fang: He didn't get the nickname Tasigur, the Value Train for being a big dumb 4/5 for 6. He is a 1-3 cost 4/5 with a recurring ability to put flashback spells into your graveyard and draw non-land cards. There's a reason that this fills the only 'real creature' slot in the deck... and he's a perfect fit.

Value

Esper Charm: If you've ever played with or against this card you'll realize just how good it is. Instant speed Divination GOOD. Instant speed discard is a very rare trait, and for a good reason GREAT. Mainboard answer to Blood Moon, Daybreak Coronet, and Splinter Twin: CONDITIONALLY SPECTACULAR.

Cryptic Command: I mean... like... it's Cryptic Command you don't play blue heavy control and not run Cryptic.

Countermagic

Logic Knot: It's drawback synergizes well with the deck's theme and it is Counterspell... Literally Counterspell in almost every situation this deck will encounter.

Spell Snare: One of the most important things that you need when playing such a slow control deck (with so little removal) against hyper aggro is countering a turn two Eidolon of the Great Revel off the draw (or if you played a turn 2 tapland on the play). It also destroys in counter wars and is the best way to protect a Sphinx's Revelation against an enemy with answers (Be they Atarka's Command effects or Counterspell ones). And modern has so many other good two cost cards that it would almost be a crime not to run this.

Murdermagic

Path to Exile: Want creatures to die? Running white? Auto Include.

Go for the Throat: this card is most definitely a flex card. Its main purpose is to have a non-path kill spell because, as good as path is, you really don't want your opponent to get too much tempo off of incessant pathing. The reason it is a one-of is because of mystical teachings.
