Hey guys,
I recently decided to get back in Modern. I know that Mentor isn't a thing around here but since i love this card: here is my take on Esper Mentor. Any help, thoughts and ideas are appreciated!
Main Wincons:
Monastery Mentor
&
Thing in the Ice
To enable them we got our cantrips in form of
Opt
as well as
Thought Scour
.
They help us to cycle through our deck, find answers and trigger our wincons.
Snapcaster Mage
and
Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
give us the opportunity to re-use our spells , pick the ones we need.
Discard: To delay our opponents gameplan and protect our own we use 2
Inquisition of Kozilek
& 3
Thoughtseize
.
Removal: 3
Path to Exile
+ 2
Fatal Push
deal with the threats our opponent will present. Split is due the rising number of Dredge-Decks and
Arclight Phoenix
'es.
6th Copy:
Collective Brutality
is the All-Star of our Deck as it is our 6th Discard- and Removal-Spell. It also helps to stabilize vs aggresive decks.
Rest:
Tasigur, the Golden Fang
gives us some card advantage in the late but can function as an early threat as well.
Lingering Souls
stabilizes us on the board and can chip off the last life points.
Remand
is a cantrip that buys time und keeps the spell-count up. Finally
Unearth
brings back our wincons and has a pretty neat interaction with
Snapcaster Mage
.
I would appreciate if someone would be willing to help me with the sideboard and the landbase. The Landbase was pretty much scrambled from what I had flying around and I never build a sideboard until now. I'm also happy to see any suggestions for improvement on the Main-Deck.
Big thanks to everyone who took his time to read through all of this, hope to see you in the comments!
