Enchantment (2)

Since I began playing competitive modern, I have fallen in love with B/G strategies. I started out playing BUG, and after the banning of Deathrite I didn't know what deck I wanted to play. Jund had supposedly taken a hit with the banning of Deathrite Shaman, but this simply felt right when I put it together. Of course, this deck has adapted since it was originally built last June, but Jund is still a strong deck; it rewards its pilot for knowing match-ups. There are many variants of "Rock" type decks, BG, Abzan, Jund, or even Gerard Fabiano's Sultai list, but I believe Jund is just inherently more powerful. Having access to some premier cards thanks to R.

Creatures

  • Dark Confidant: Bob draws cards. Established powerhouse, and though the build has since changed, it works well in tandem with Courser of Kruphix, Fetches, and Chandra, Pyromaster .

  • Tarmogoyf: Hands down the most efficient threat in multiple formats.

  • Fulminator Mage: A Bear that blows up a non-basic land. Usually gets in for some damage before you need to pop him. Especially useful combating big mana and 3 color decks.

  • Huntmaster of the Fells: An Allstar cards that does so much, he has been reworked into the build. The lifegain isn't irrelevant, the Wolf helps fight Liliana of the Veil, and he creates a game within a game for your opponent if they don't kill him.

  • Tasigur, the Golden Fang: Tarmogoyf #5 as well as a grind engine that can take over a game if left unchecked.

Non-Creature Spells

  • Thoughtseize: One of the most powerful effects in the game, helps deal with threats before they become a problem.

  • Inquisition of Kozilek: A good discard spell, but the 3 CMC limit can actually hinder it against certain decks, i.e. Collected Company, Karn Liberated and Cryptic Command.

  • Lightning Bolt: The most efficient Burn spell. Kills things dead.

  • Terminate: Deals with bigger creatures and manlands

  • Abrupt Decay: Uncounterable kills things is very good. It does suffer from not being able to hit manlands, but we have other removal for that.

  • Slaughter Pact : Allows us very flexible plays, and plays well with Bob, Not hitting black creatures is a minor drawback.

  • Maelstrom Pulse: Unconditional destroy something and all things named that. It usually hits only one thing, but man when it hits 2...

  • Liliana of the Veil: She is a terror on turn 3 against almost any deck. Discard is horrible for Combo/Control, and her edict helps against creature strategies.

  • Chandra, Pyromaster : Kills X/1's for days, or grabs you extra cards. Every once in a while you will ult for triple Bolt and the win.

Lands & SB

I play this a lot, and have picked up a pretty decent amount of institutional knowledge in regards to playing it. So, if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Updates Add

Updated the deck and description. This is what I'll be testing moving forward into the Modern Season. Also, I'm almost done Foiling the entire thing, then we'll move on to all foreign foils lol.
