~ Everyone Wins With Kynaios and Tiro ~

This is a quick primer outlining my Group Hug deck called "Everyone Wins With Kynaios and Tiro" with Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis.
Every 10-20 matches or so, I update the deck from ideas I've had while playing, and track statistics from the games per "season" as a fun little project. Enjoy!

[THE COMMANDER] This deck is embraced by Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis. Less ominous and more predictable than Kenrith, it stands as the premier duo for those who reject darkness and welcomes (almost) equal opportunity for all.

[THE GAME PLAN] The deck wants to bring up the pace of the game with collective ramp and card draw, moderating major threats politically until making “everyone” win through combo.

[THE POWER LEVEL] On a traditional power level scale, I would rate this deck at 7 out of 10. It certainly has a lot of interaction, but the deck survives mostly through politics rather than optimized armies.

[THE PHILOSOPHY] The main idea behind the deck is simply to make sure everyone has a reasonably good time. Prevent mana flooding, running out of gas, and the difficulty of finding answers by providing card draw that lifts the mood of the table as everyone gets to play their deck. Being amidst this collective joy, wins and losses tend to not mean as much. The real magic is, after all, the friends we made along the way.

[EARLY GAME] The first few turns should be spent ramping into Kynaios and Tiro for an ideal turn 3 play. Other smaller cards, like Veteran Explorer, Rootweaver Druid and Flumph can be played before if the opponents agree to use them as intended.

[MID GAME] Mid game is where the Magic happens. Play everything with glee, give unspecified “favors” or “benefits” to left and right to earn goodwill and trust, and watch your opponents surrender from confusion into sheer joy. If something gets out of hand, remove in on the spot through cards like Oblation or Arcane Denial, or restart with Promise of Loyalty or Curse of the Swine. Since everyone soon will be stocking up on cards anyway, the feel-bad is not as prevalent as in other circumstances.

The table is at its best when Jared monarchs someone which becomes under constant siege of an evergrowing Capricopian, and when Xyris goes haywire with a Smothering Tithe.

[LATE GAME] The win can be achieved through beatdown to some extent, mainly through Sandwurm Convergence. The primarily goal however is to make sure everyone “wins” at the “same” time, and this is achieved through ramping to around 70-80 mana (with the helping of Zendikar Resurgent and Smothering Tithe, further boosted by the collective card draw), playing Laboratory Maniac, followed with Tempt with Reflections targeting Laboratory Maniac, and playing Prosperity, where X = the highest library size, which should be around 60-70 at the time of resolution. Say the golden line: “whoever draw X cards one by one, and then attempts to draw from an empty library wins!” Start the race and watch the fun.

Now, Magic rules prevents a player to win like this if one is being nit-picky, as Prosperity should really resolved player-by-player, starting with the active player. But still.

On its own, the deck usually presents a game-winning scenario by turn 8-10. This do require a bit of politicking and will vary depending on the willingness of opponents and their level of interaction.

This deck is still quite fresh and I do not have too much playing experience with it yet. The main focus as far as upgrades goes is to add the missing bounce, fetch and shock lands to make a turn 3 or 4 Kynaios and Tiro more consistent.

Enlightened Tutor and Wargate could possibly do some great work in finding Smothering Tithe.
