Sorcery (1)

My take on the current Ponza list with added spice in the form of newly printed Experimental Frenzy! Note: you won't learn how to play Ponza here, for that I recommend either the Ponza Reddit (r/PonzaMTG) or their official deck building primer: Ponza.dec (Deckbuilding Primer). This write up is going to be for Ponza enthusiasts looking for something spicy.

So the decision to include Frenzy came after I saw it's success in standard, specifically in aggressive Gruul ramp decks even though Gruul specific cards won't be printed until next set. I believe it fits into this deck in a similar manner because you can quickly ramp up to big mana thanks to the Arbor Elf and Utopia Sprawl interaction. This allows you to "go off" from the top of your library easily because you'll rarely not be able to pay for a spell off the top.

The aspect that I think takes this strategy from mediocre to excellent is if you can stick a Tireless Tracker, Chandra, Torch of Defiance or even a fetch land before playing your frenzy. Tracker's clues help us draw a card we don't want to play off the top of our library so we can carry on going off, Chandra exiles it with one of her +1 abilities and fetch lands shuffle it away. Combined with the fact we get a clue every time we play a land off the top with tracker in play (and another one after we crack our fetches) makes this strategy more than viable.

Previously, people have cut down on the amount of rains to utilise Faithless Looting in order to discard excess moons and draw gas, but with this strategy we don't need to. We just use cards already proven to be great in Ponza, make them even stronger and play every card in our library.

The cuts I made are a single Courser of Kruphix because Frenzy basically plays the same role but better (except against burn and aggro) and a Primal Command because why search for that last threat when you can play every card in your library up until and including that threat.

Any input is welcome!
