Budget deck for a friend (WIP).Using the base "Feline Ferocity" deck with $35 worth of additions. Doubles the cost of the pre-con deck but streamlines it much more efficiently.

Strategy Show

The issue with "Feline Ferocity" is that despite the "Eminence" effect, you're not swinging with that extra 3 damage early on. It contained no 1 drops and only 8 - 2 drops. I included 6 - 1 drops, and changed the 9 - 2 drops to be more focused on aggro. The strategy is as follows.

Turn 1 - drop a cat if possible, any cat will do.

Turn 2 - drop an equipment fetch (search for Sword of the Animist, land fetch (3 mana), or equipment, swing for 5 (35)

Turn 3 - equip Sword of the Animist, land fetch (6 mana), or equipment, swing for 5 (30)

Turn 4 - Traverse the Outlands, Boundless Realms (12 mana), more land fetch (8 mana), or equipment, swing for 7-8 (22-23)

Turn 5 - Arahbo, Roar of the World + 3CMC ability, or equipment, or creature pumps, or Ajani, Caller of the Pride for double strike, or Grafted Skeleton for 10 poison damage

Turn 6 - lethal if no removal

Creatures Show

1CMC

Loam Lion - 2/3 turn 2, swinging as a 5/6 provided you have the Forest ($0.20)

Sacred Cat - 1/1 lifelink but has embalm mechanic for late game if you start running out of steam ($0.05)

Wild Nacatl - 2/2 turn 2, swinging as a 5/5 provided you have the Plains ($1.30)

Wily Bandar - 1/1 with ability to turn indestructible, huge late game advantage ($0.01)

Scythe Leopard - 1/1 with landfall mechanic, works great with Sword of the Animist and all the land fetches ($0.03)

Steppe Lynx - 0/1 with landfall mechanic, works great with Sword of the Animist and all the land fetches ($0.07)

2CMC

Adorned Pouncer - doublestrike mechanic is amazing with sufficient equipment, even without it, it can swing for 8 damage turn 3, combo with Grafted Exoskeleton and you have lethal ($1.00)

Enlightened Ascetic - utility to get rid of pesky enchantments ($0.03)

Fleecemane Lion - 2 drop 3/3 in itself is solid, combo that with a turn 5 4/4 hexproof indestructible swinging for 7 makes it amazing

Hungry Lynx - more playtesting with this one is necessary, it needs protection otherwise an opponent can nuke it and you've given them free answers to your "Fat Cats"

Leonin Shikari - combo with Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots makes single target removal obsolete

Lost Leonin - poison is a cheese win, may cause friends to rage quit, threw it in for giggles ($0.07)

Puresteel Paladin - additional draw mechanic. With 14 artifacts and plenty of equipment fetches, makes the Metalcraft easier to hit, which reduces equip cost to 0. Pretty pricey but worth the cost imo. ($6.50)

Qasali Pridemage - more removal options, exalted mechanic helps with that extra push for lethal

Whitemane Lion - bounce mechanic in case you can't protect a creature. Combo with ETB effects for added gain Enlightened Ascetic, Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith, Taj-Nar Swordsmith

3CMC

Fleetfoot Panther - bounce mechanic in case you can't protect a creature. Combo with ETB effects for added gain Enlightened Ascetic, Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith, Taj-Nar Swordsmith ($0.30)

Kemba, Kha Regent - stack on the equipment to get free tokens, protection with Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots

Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist - allows more damage to go through and less worry of getting hit back

Prowling Serpopard - utility against heavy blue decks, prep for when you want to do lethal with Arahbo, Roar of the World , Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith ($2.00)

Skyhunter Skirmisher - doublestrike and flying means this damage will almost always go through, combo with Grafted Exoskeleton for the win ($0.10)

Ajani, Caller of the Pride - early game you can put counters on protected cats. Late to mid game the flying and doublestrike guarantees damage. Cracking Ajani for 8 would hurt your curve.

4CMC

Chameleon Colossus - 4/4 body with protection from black which helps significantly in single target removal. Ability to double its attack for the cost of 4 can lead to lethal with any amount of equips and Arahbo's roar.

Felidar Guardian - unsure about this add currently as it's a more expensive bounce and return. Advantage over Whitemane Lion , Fleetfoot Panther is not having to recast it for the original mana cost. Could potentially be powerful with Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith, Taj-Nar Swordsmith ($0.10)

Taj-Nar Swordsmith - another equipment fetch but requires you to pay the CMC up front. You'd never drop this turn 4 unless you had some amazing ramp. Best combo would be with Masterwork of Ingenuity provided you have a good equipment already on the field.

5CMC

Stonehewer Giant - another equipment fetch but with the advantage of playing ANY equipment card AND equipping it for only 2CMC. Combo with Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots and grab Argentum Armor. ($5.50)

Arahbo, Roar of the World - while you can hard cast Arahbo for 5, it's better to do it for 8 so you can activate his ability as well. Only play Arahbo for 5 if you're running out of options, but it'll be a strong tell to all your opponents that you have no more answers.

6CMC

Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith - the only expensive legendary cat that made the cut. Its obvious combo with Hammer of Nazahn is quite strong however. Granting indestructible and the ability to equip for free as they're played can make for a very strong one turn play.

Artifacts Show

Equipment

Bloodforged Battle-Axe - Good for early damage, if you can sustain the 2 equip cost, the damage you can get from one card increases exponentially. I.e. 2 dmg turn 2, 4 dmg turn 3, 8 dmg turn 4. Best combo would be with Puresteel Paladin which removes the equip cost at 3 artifacts or 2 swings. Can also combo with Hammer of Nazahn.

Skullclamp - Attach to any cat that can survive it early game. Late game can act as a card draw when your 1CMC cats are less relevant.

Masterwork of Ingenuity - combo with any equipment fetch or heavy cost equipment for added value. Copying Argentum Armor saves 5CMC on cast and doubles the destroy permanent effects. ($1.30)

Lightning Greaves - haste and protect, DO NOT put on your primary attacker as it won't be affected by Arahbo. Use for protecting utility creatures.

Swiftfoot Boots - like Lightning Greaves except with the added advantage of getting Arahbo's bonus but with 1 equip cost.

Sword of the Animist - for whatever reason, I love this card. If I have an equipment fetch then this is the first thing I grab. With the 2CMC cast and 2CMC to equip, it'll take until turn 3 at least to see play. However, attach it to any of the 1-drop starter cats and you can pump out double the mana for the forseeable future. Most removals will likely be reserved for Grafted Exoskeleton or Argentum Armor or the hammers. When combo-ed with the landfall cats Scythe Leopard and Steppe Lynx , this doubles their bonuses early. Getting Sword out turn 3 means you'll have 8 lands on turn 5 allowing you to cast Boundless Realms and giving you 16 lands on turn 6. Not only do you have half your mana base, your expected draws become much better when entering late game.

Behemoth Sledge - standard buff, lifelink, trample, attach to protected creatures and keep swinging for win

Loxodon Warhammer - standard buff, lifelink, trample, attach to protected creatures and keep swinging for win

Heirloom Blade - bit iffy on this one, the stats are mediocre for 3CMC cast and 1CMC equip, the advantage is you can attach it to a cat that isn't being buffed by Arahbo, allowing for either free damage or the ability to draw a new cat and put into hand. Should help with aggro early to mid game but around turn 3-4 you'll want to use Sword of the Animist instead.

Grafted Exoskeleton - poison damage for the win. Equip to Adorned Pouncer or Skyhunter Skirmisher for the win, or combo it with Skullclamp and attach to a weenie for free damage or card advantage. ($0.50)

Hammer of Nazahn - there are other things that are better to hardcast for 4. Basic combo with Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith. Holding onto equipment to try and combo with Hammer would be inefficient for the curve. Only equipment to hold in hand after Hammer would be Argentum Armor to remove the 6 equip cost. Possible to help with card draw using Puresteel Paladin but the loss in CMC would be too high.

Argentum Armor - with the ramping, fetching and cheese equips, this equipment can come out sooner than turn 7. Removing threats (or lands) early helps you ramp past opponents.

Artifacts

Sol Ring - what's a commander deck without a sol ring? Only artifact ramp required.

Lifecrafter's Bestiary - combo this with Herald’s Horn, Abundance or Descendants' Path to fix your draws. If by some magical way you can have all four out, it would go Lifecrafter's Bestiary for scry, if it's a cat then keep it up top. Descendants' Path to cast for free. Herald’s Horn to see if you get a free draw. Finally Abundance for if you have too many lands and need some more answers. ($0.67)

Herald’s Horn - cost reduction on cats allows for faster ramp

Enchantments Show

Rancor - while the equipment fetches can't grab it, a 1 drop for power and trample is an easy sell. Also, short of getting exiled, it'll never die.

Sigarda's Aid - casting equipment with flash can ruin an opponent's removal method. Lightning Greaves or Swiftfoot Boots to fizzle single target removal. Grafted Exoskeleton at the assign damage phase.

Descendants' Path - deck fixing and ramp ($1.50)

Abundance - deck fixing and ramp

Citadel Siege - buff up creatures permanently to evade the -X/-X spells, swing wide with tokens or small cats, or swing harder ($0.20)

Mirari's Wake - the +1/+1 is nice, but the doubling of your mana pool is where it's at. Get this out turn 4, play Traverse the Outlands or Boundless Realms after. Will pose a major threat if opponents cannot remove it.

Sorcery Show

Steelshaper's Gift - 1 cost to search any equipment. My go-to would be Sword of the Animist for the ramp. If you're expecting early removal then Swiftfoot Boots would be my second choice. Mid-game would be Grafted Exoskeleton with protection or Loxodon Warhammer without. Late-game is Argentum Armor ($3.00)

Open the Armory - same as Steelshaper's Gift with the downside of an extra 1CMC. You can grab Rancor with this one, but generally isn't good for the curve. ($0.20)

Rampant Growth - mana ramp and fixing ($0.13)

Cultivate - mana ramp and fixing

Kodama's Reach - mana ramp and fixing ($1.00)

Nissa's Pilgrimage - while it can only search for forests, if you had used other ramp cards or spot removals, it allows for 3 forests to be fetched.

Soul's Majesty - it was a toss-up between this and Harmonize, while 3 cards for 4CMC is a good tradeoff, you can draw far cards per CMC for 1 extra after Arahbo's effect. I.e. with mana ramp you can cast Soul's turn 4, with a Steppe Lynx and 2 land drops, you swing for 7, draw 7 on turn 4, discard excess land. Preferable combo would be to use Traverse the Outlands first, put 7 basic lands out and then to use Soul's Majesty next turn with the extra mana pool.

Traverse the Outlands - having 5 mana by turn 4 and swinging for 6-7 is very possible with this deck, getting an additional 7 lands for a mana base of 12 by turn 5 will almost guarantee your win.

Rishkar's Expertise - similar to Soul's Majesty with an extra CMC. If you can draw Chameleon Colossuss, Felidar Guardian, Stonehewer Giant , Taj-Nar Swordsmith then you can gain simultaneous card and board advantage. The 6 CMC cost of Rishkar's Expertise hovers the line of a "win-more" card

Boundless Realms - generally considered a "win-more" card, however with the advantages of Sword of the Animist and Traverse the Outlands which play directly to this deck's strengths, Boundless Realms can be a hard cast by turn 4-5. Searching for 7-8 lands and having a mana base of 14-16 by turn 6 allows for more plays and answers.

Divine Reckoning - focus of your deck is swinging tall, this card helps stem the flow of weenie rush decks

Instants Show

Condemn - spot removal for annoying creatures, the life gain is typically minimal compared to how much damage you're swinging with

Swords to Plowshares - spot removal ($1.50)

Heroic Intervention - when you need to swing for lethal or you feel a wipe coming ($1.50)

Hunter's Insight - additional card draw, as an instant you can play it before assign damage phase and collect on that awesome card advantage. 3CMC for 5 cards is definitely possible ($0.25)

White Sun's Zenith - feels like a win-more card but with the amount of mana this deck can generate, it can be a strong card post board wipe

Out of Budget Cards Show

Berserk - 1 CMC double damage, sac after, make or break, combo it with anything and you can hit for lethal ($8.00)

Brimaz, King of Oreskos - 3CMC, 3/4, Vigilance, token generation with attacking or blocking, better for a swing wide deck but strong nevertheless. With proper protection and enough equipment, this card can win the game with sheer card advantage. And it's a cat. ($14.00)

Exploration - 1 CMC, double the amount of lands you can put down? Combo with Cultivate, Kodama's Reach, Nissa's Pilgrimage, Steppe Lynx , Scythe Leopard and you're swinging for 2-3 extra damage early game and hitting 7 mana base by turn 4. i.e. turn 1 Steppe Lynx , turn 2 Exploration, 2 lands down, Rampant Growth, swing for 6, buff to 9 with Arahbo. Turn 3 Kodama's Reach, drop 2 lands, swing for 9, you have 7 lands by turn 4. ($14.00)

Stoneforge Mystic - 2 CMC, faster equipment draw than Stonehewer Giant but three times the cost. ($15.00)

Enlightened Tutor - 1 CMC, grab any artifact or enchantment, greater reach than equipment draws. Can grab Sol Ring if you just aren't hitting those lands or Descendants' Path if you're not getting those cats or Mirari's Wake if you need to drop some bigger cards.
