So my first match up was against Marrdu Agro. He was using token generators as well as Mardu AscendancyHe was on the play game 1. And he got there because he was able to sacrifice Mardu Ascendancy to keep his creatures around against my burn and my creatures. I brought in Phyrexian Revoker and Circle of Flame for the matchup. Got there games 2&3.
Game 2 was U/B control. And honestly I didn't get to see enough of his deck to tell you what he was really running because I ended up going warp speed and Got there 2-0. I know Stubborn Denial, Drown in Sorrow, Bile Blight, and Hero's Downfall were all in the deck. I boarded in my extra Wild Slash and Stoke the Flames and my 2 Outpost Sieges and took out the 4 Collateral Damages.
Match 3 was B/W heroic. Ugh do I hate this match up. But the key to beating it is forcing the protection spells out early to get rid of thier creatures as quickly as possible. Game 1 I was on the plAy and got there. I didn't see anything I wasn't expecting so I boarded in the Outpost Sieges, the Satyr Firedancers, and a Wild Slash and took out my Collateral Damages and 1 Magma Jet. He won game 2 as a result of mana screw from my deck. Granted I did get greedy and keep a 1 lander. Game 3 I was less greedy and got there.
Match 4 was a really well put together esper control list. Granted gMe 1 against control is almost always a win for me. Nothing changed here. Got there game 1. Brought in my extra Stoke the Flames, 2 Outpost Sieges, and the extra Magma Jet. Game 2 he got an early Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver, and grabbed a Goblin Rabblemaster he then cast Sorin, Solemn Visitor the next turn and used my rabblemaster against me. And due to flooding I had no answers. Game 3 was completely different. I was scared to stare down to Nyx-Fleece Rams, but after some fun combat tricks mixed with burn I got rid of them and walked to the win.
Great night!!!
