This deck focuses on the Populate mechanic to create as many creatures on the battlefield and pumping them as much as possible to make them an unstoppable force.
This was my first deck I ever made so this deck is very special to me. The deck has been modified a lot since I first created it and this is what I have now. I will explain my ideas I created for this deck. If anyone has any suggestions or tips for this deck, please don't hesitate to tell me in the comment section! =)
1) Parallel Lives is the card that really inspired this deck. This card will be what makes the Populate and Token cards extra effective.
2) Birds of Paradise is very useful to help ramp mana to use our spells a lot earlier in the game.
3)
Advent of the Wurm
, Lingering Souls, Entreat the Angels and
Call of the Conclave
are our main token creating engine.
4) Path to Exile is the possibly the best removal card that white has in Modern right now and there's pretty much no reason for us to NOT play this card.
5) Trostani, Selesnya's Voice is useful because as each creature enters the battlefield under our control, we gain life to it's toughness, but also that it can populate any token that we want/need.
6) Rhys the Redeemed is amazing for many reasons. 1, he's only a one drop! 2, he can create some more tokens on the battlefield. 3, his greatest ability is we can literally double the number of creature tokens, which is very deadly for the opponent if the ability is used every turn!
7) Voice of Resurgence is a staple in most Selesnya aggro decks in Standard and in any Birthing Pod deck in Modern, but it is also a staple in this deck as well. Hating our opponent to not cast spells on our turn is amazing, but when it dies we get a token, which we can populate with Trostani, Selesnya's Voice or double it with Rhys the Redeemed. Also if we have Parallel Lives when it dies, we get two of those tokens instead!
8) Garruk, Primal Hunter is, in my opinion, most fitting Planeswalker for this deck, other than both Elspeth, Sun's Champion and Elspeth, Knight-Errant, because his +1 ability will create 3/3 tokens. Also if he can last to use his -6 ability it will create 6/6 tokens for every land in control!
9) The final touch for this deck is to pump up our creatures and/or tokens! Intangible Virtue gives all the tokens +1/+1 and Vigilance, which now they can attack and block at the same time.
