Maybeboard

A grindy midrange deck that can win through token beats but more often it wins through a long game of sacrifice outlets and chump blockers creating inevitability. Failing that, tutoring for a Murderous Redcap combo works too! Prossh, Skyraider of Kher is the more or less undisputed king of Jund, but I really liked Tana's focus and artwork when she was released so I decided to be stubborn! The idea is to pivot as necessary between wide with tokens or tall with counters, so you can deal with what opponent's throw at you. Haven't played this deck recently and am still updating it, so as a warning there are cards here that are theorycrafted. With that out of the way, here's a primer!

Game Plan

Creature Beatdown: Kalonian Hydra , Scavenging Ooze , Champion of Lambholt and Yahenni, Undying Partisan are creatures that constantly grow. They can sneak in with Rogue's Passage or a trample effect, but they mostly serve to draw attention and force the opponent to deal with them. Once dealt with, their counters can be moved to Tana with Reyhan's ability for a large trampler that creates tokens. Speaking of, the other option is to go wide as this deck plays plenty of creatures and can generate quite a few as well! Thunderfoot Baloth and Beastmaster Ascension can buff all these creatures up a bit to help swing through. Forgotten Ancient helps buff other creatures as necessary, and Reyhan keeps the counters around.

Tokens and More Tokens: While hitting the opponent in the face with Tana is the deck plan, that can also be the hardest part of the deck in creature heavy metas. Turbo her out when possible and hit whoever doesn't have a blocker to start the engine. Cards like Archfiend of Depravity , Plaguecrafter and Dictate of Erebos keep the opponents' boards thin while Break Through the Line , Kessig Wolf Run , Korozda Guildmage and Rogue's Passage help Tana connect. There aren't many other great token generators other than Tendershoot Dryad so this is the weakest part of the deck and I will shore it up more as needed.

Sacrifice Shenanigans: Once you have plenty of tokens made, there are plenty of ways to use them! Prossh, Skyraider of Kher , Viscera Seer , Carrion Feeder , Goblin Bombardment , Ashnod's Altar and Yahenni, Undying Partisan all provide free sac outlets for the creatures and mana dorks as necessary. Fecundity and Deathreap Ritual draw us cards for killing our creatures, Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest pumps our board with each death and Pitiless Plunderer ramps and mana fixes us for it. Just a tip, if an opponent wipes the board you can hold priority to sacrifice creatures to get a useful effect like scrying with Viscera Seer. Make use of it if necessary!

Murder Them Gently with a Redcap: I try to include a combo win in most decks I play in order to deal with stalled boards and such. In this case we may not be able to protect our combo very well, but every piece is useful to the deck either way so it isn't a loss to include all the pieces! Murderous Redcap is the centerpiece of the combo, and coupled with Yahenni, Undying Partisan and Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest / Ivy Lane Denizen he can ping the table to death. With all the necessary parts in play, this also gets around spot removal, as you can hold priority for the combo. Just sac the Redcap, when he returns stack the counter from Mazirek/Denizen on him, then rinse and repeat!
