Theros block is cool for big things, it has Leviathans and Krakens and Hydras and all sorts of Gigantic Dudes(TM) who want to crush, stomp and generally trample anything the opponent might have.

So lets take a look at the cards!

The Enablers

Your bread and butter, you want to see most of these guys in your opening hand, getting these little fellas on-line is what's gonna win you the game later so try to get out as many as possible.

Sylvan Caryatid - Possibly one of, if not THE, most important creature in the deck, this guy is the only 4 of in the deck for a reason, we want him each and every game. He accelerates, has a fat butt, and does wonders against aggro. This glues a lot of the deck together.

Sigiled Starfish and Dakra Mystic - These dudes fix your draws and keep you from drawing your 6+ mana stuff on turn 2 or 3, dumping a Tromokratis to the grave with Dakra Mystic can be better than having it stick in your hand for ages.

Kiora's Follower - This dude is a secondary Sylvan Caryatid that can also untap your guys in return for being harder to cast. This might not come down on turn 2 but the ability to untap any permanent is strong, believe me. Untapping Nykthos after it's been used is an almost unhealthy amount of mana. He's also a bear, which is pretty decent if you need someone to enter the red zone in a pinch.

Courser of Kruphix - This guy is a bomb, he filters the top of your library keeping you from drawing nasty lands late game. He also has a fat bottom like Sylvan but doesn't protect himself, but at least he doesn't die to an immediate Lightning Strike or Magma Spray. I'm strongly considering adding a 4th.

The Support

These guys help you not die, and also can help your acceleration game in other ways, they also might provide fuel for the deck to 'go'.

Thassa, God of the Sea - As a friend of mine says, 'Consistency is king in MTG', and Thassa is one of the best consistency engines ever printed. Fixes your draws big time and also makes sure your dudes can get in consistently, which is especially important for bigger guys without evasion or combat power of some sort. It's a shame that I don't have much room for a second. Perhaps some suggestions?

Interpret the Signs - There's not too much card advantage in this deck, Dakra Mystic can only do so much, so this card is in here to fill the tank later on in the game. Because my curve is rather high I don't mind playing this as this can reliably draw me 4 or more cards and Scry 3 is a great way to send what you don't want to the bottom.

Bident of Thassa + Bow of Nylea - Bident is a nice way of keeping the flow going in my favor as the game goes on, it also can turn my bigger dudes into Not-Hexproof-Tromokratis'. Bow of Nylea does everything but most importantly can put cards that I had to dump with Dakra Mystic back in my deck. Dump turn 2 Tromokratis only for him to get sucked back into the deck. Not only that but it makes trades go in my favor more often and can make my Fat Butted dudes have even fatter butts.

Whelming Wave - I'm in U/G, so I'm not allowed to have the awesome board wipes so I take what I can get. This is a great keep against aggressive decks and if I ever rip it off the top late game while I have Breaker or Tromo out then the game is all but over.

Kiora, the Crashing Wave - This is a pretty good Planeswalker when you need big guys online sooner rather than later. This is a great card against Mono Black (We're talking block here, Pack Rat doesn't exist), dropping this against a Master of the Feast is oh so amazing, and mono black doesn't normally commit to the field to hard anyway so sometimes you can keep a dude bubbled until the Krakens arrive. But honestly this is mostly gonna just Explore twice.

Prophet of Kruphix - I'm not all that sure about this card. She gets lots of hype and stuff but I've yet to see the real power everyone goes on about. Don't get me wrong however, she's got some serious strength, giving every dude you own flash is quite a boon and she lets your smaller dudes tap away without worrying about any aggro swarms that might be knocking at the door. Still I prefer her strength in EDH.

Kruphix, God of Horizons - This guy can be a bomb, but he's also support a lot of the time too, so I labelled him as such. THis guy is one of the few cards in this deck that really takes advantage of the Prophet, how apt. Any unused mana I have at the end of the opponents turn can be stored away for later and a Nykthos can be a huge mana bank with this guy. He gets devoted pretty easily which is nice.

Whelming Wave

The Big League.

These are the Titans. The main event. All that support before is to facilitate one or more of these guys slamming down and making life for the opponent horrible.

Tromokratis - Mostly the reason I went and built this deck, I love Tromokratis. He's massive, doesn't die to removal, and has quirky evasion that forces your opponent on the defensive. He looks badass, feels badass, and wins games when he goes into the red. You are ramping into this, this is why we are here.

Hydra Broodmaster - As tempting as filling out the bomb package with as many Tromokratis' as I could play was, I felt like I should also give the other bombs of Theros a fair look. Seeing as my plan was to ramp into big dude's Hydra Broodmaster was an obvious pick. 7/7 for 6 is already looking nice on my Gigantic Dude(TM) list, but it's the monstrous that really grabs the limelight. Hydra swarm will win the game immediately, barring an instant speed board wipe or the pillowiest of pillow forts.

Nylea, God of the Hunt - This is the God of big dudes so why wouldn't I add it in here? Nylea is pretty sweet. Making my bigger guys skew combat maths pretty harshly, and with the bow out this is taken to absurd levels. She can also pump a dude but this doesn't happen very often, it can be useful to get a guy out of a burn spell's kill range or just get a few extra points on the board. Her real strength is in the fact that she's easy to get devoted and swinging.

Polukranos, World Eater - King of Hydra's! Polukranos is the real deal, he lay's down the beats and can eat dudes pretty easy. He's a bomb because he can come down early and stall out the board as well as offensively pressure the opponent all while you keep the ramp game going. He's the ideal early mid-game for this deck, and seeing him on turn 3 is what you want. Sometime's he can win the game all by his lonesome. I want to see this guy every game, but he's legendary and we need space so we keep him at 2-3.

Hypnotic Siren - What?! A 1/1 flyer in the bomb section? What drugs have you been taking Kaztec? Well dear reader, I fail to see why the issue of my rampant drug problem should come into account, but that's besides the point. This is a deceptively amazing Mind Control which happens to be disguised as a 1/1 flyer. Snagging an opponents dude and making it into a Flyer and stronger is big and this deck can often cast it for it's large bestow cost. Not only that but if they kill their stolen dude you get a 1/1 flyer, what value!

Shipbreaker Kraken - I like this card, it does big things. It freezes your opponent's guys and hits for 10. The only reason this isn't a Tromokratis is because I wanted to diversify my bombs but if he proves to narrow or does too little, the Kraken will sadly probably see a removal from the deck.

Prognostic Sphinx - I was hard pressed deciding whether this should be labled as support or a bomb. But in the end I went with bomb, because he's a big fat flyer with self protection, awesome. The fact that he fixes all my draws ever is just a bonus. Who wouldn't love that?! And lookit that beard, Phroar!

Colossus of Akros - This deck is a compilation of Theros's biggest, and this is the biggest of the biggest. He stands back and protects your life until you hit 10 mana and he stands up and smashes really really hard. This is the end game.
