Welcome to "Abzan" Toolbox!

(Really 5C-Toolbox if you go all nitpicking!)

Like playing a control'ish playstyle? But with a powerful boardpresence? The ability to pick the exact card you need in every matchup?

Do I have a deck for you! 5C Toolbox! The main goal of the deck is to cast Glittering Wish, and simply pick the winning card!

The early game

Nearly every early game consist of the same, casting either cheap mana dorks or cheap discard spells such as Inquisition of Kozilek or the powerful Thoughtseize. Either picking out key card in your opponents deck, or heavy hitters. Discaring an early threat from your opponents hand, really helps you survive until you can eventually cast Glittering Wish.

Another powerful turn one may also be the cheap universal mana dorks! Birds of Paradise let's you create any colored mana you might need, ramping for 3 mana turn 2 or even block a Inkmoth Nexus in a pitch. The same goes for Noble Hierarch. Giving you a ton of options with mana, ramping, even pumping your attacking creature with that Exalted trigger.

The midgame

Playing this deck should not be super complicated. Your main priority should be to cast Glittering Wish, punching your opponent out of the game on the following turn. But this is where the midrange part of the deck really shines! Hitting an annoying counterspell like Cryptic Command or Warping Wail? No problem! This mean your opponents are using resources that aren't answering your board. Card like Tireless Tracker and Siege Rhino can really put a lot of pressure on your opponents, if not answered within a few turns. Throw in a Noble Hierarch, Voice of Resurgence and you got quite the board!

Path to Exile provides for some cheap creature removal, but this should mainly be used on flying creatures. As this deck only got Birds of Paradise for chump blocking and Lingering Souls to answer the air! Grim Flayer might also hit a Lingering Souls from time to time, keep it in mind!

At any giving the turn, you shoulder always seek to squeeze in Glittering Wish. As this is what delivers the finishing blow!

The end-game

Around this time you should hopefully have cast Glittering Wish, and you're just waiting for the perfect opportunity. Dropping the carefully selected bomb down on your opponent! Your strategy from here should be to survive, and just play the selected card. As they rarely can do anything against it, even if you show them what you pick.

The landbase

This deck is mainly Abzan colors. (Green-Black-White) but also splashes in two out-of-color lands.

Sacred Foundry and Hallowed Fountain. You have 8 fetches which can pull either Blue or Red mana. Only fetch one of these lands if you know you'll be using that color, for the card you pick with Glittering Wish. Planning ahead is everything with this deck!

A wise man once said: "Plans are nothing. Planning is everything!"
