Like its white cousin, this deck is tactical, competitive, and fun to play, using Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and Mastery of the Unseen to power out massive amounts of creatures, in this case using black devotion instead of white.

This version of the deck is arguably less subtle, but possibly even more versatile, using powerful tutors like Sidisi, Undead Vizier and Liliana Vess to make sure you have a Nykthos or Mastery in play when you need it, and to find a host of situation-specific cards.

The deck definitely plays differently than the white version, thanks to 1 drop onboard deathtouchers that can stall boards, harass aggro strategies, force low-value trades for control decks, and take down big creatures, all while providing ultra-efficient black devotion.

A more robust manabase fits with this deck's more relaxed early game and higher overall curve, frequently allowing it to cast finishers like Abhorrent Overlord or Ashen Rider even without a Nykthos in play.
