After playing the deck and having an absolutely amazing time I made these changes, knowing more now what I need and the type of gameplay I can expect from wearing a target on your head for all to see. Plus the Herald makes for some great fluff.
Removed:
1 Garrulous Sycophant - Feels slow, but still essential for sustain/winning
2 Palace Jailer - Did not live up to what was read on paper, easy to deal with, but still worth 2 slots
1 Marchesa - Found myself just wanting to hold my mana to protect the crown, only played to steal the crown back/when I expect to lose the crown, which is against the entire gameplan
2 Thorn of the Black Rose - A good card for the deck, but there are some other options I wanted to try
1 Throne Warden - 2 mana slowly building body that didn't put in huge amounts of work, but the potential is still very high
4 Murder - At 3 mana if we wanna use this efficiently it's out only plan, it feels clunky and restrictive
Added:
2x Kambal, Consul of Allocation - We need life gain, need need need lifegain, and we can deal with creatures a lot more efficiently than we can noncreatures.
2x Curse of Chaos - A nice turn two play that redirects the aggro away from us.
2x Holy Day - Every now and then it all gets too much and you just don't wanna lose the crown.
2x Fumigate - We die hard to wide boards and we need the lifegain, my wrath of choice for exactly this.
2x Doom Blade - Conditional yes, but it's also cheaper than murder and we have other ways of killing the black creatures that sneak through.
1x Herald of Leshrac - When the game goes on for too long, it's time to start invading and growing the empire! And other fluffy reasons.
P.S: It's worth noting that Marchesa's Decree was considered for a slot in the deck, but Kambal ultimately took the slot because he just feels better and every good monarch needs a good advisor.
