Maybeboard


I started this brew with 36 creatures and Deadbridge Chant as the format. Due to the amount of aggro decks in the meta (79% according to SCG) I discovered that since I was using my lower mana drops for ramping, I would get run over before getting my steam really going, so I modified it to have more control elements, which seems to have helped quite a bit!

Quick rundown of the deck:

Elvish Mystic and Sylvan Caryatid: mana ramp, of course.

Baleful Eidolon and Deadly Recluse: defense to buy time.

Pit Fight , Putrefy, Naturalize all for control/removal. Covers creatures, enchantments, and artifacts.

Desecration Demon , Nylea, God of the Hunt , Nighthowler, Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord all for offense


Synergy stuff

Deadbridge Chant accelerates the deck and wears down control opponents.

Pharika's Mender is really neat. It is a 4/3 and then use it to pull choice card from own graveyard. Works great when played right after Deadbridge Chant is played or even to pull DC out of the graveyard if it was removed from play.

Bow of Nylea is versitile. Getting milled then you can put 4 cards back per turn, even put the lands back if you want to increase the odds of DCing creatures out of your GY each turn. It's also good flying defense, lifegain, and creature building. Combo it with Nylea, God of the Hunt and you have deathtouch/trample combo going, all of your opponents creatures now only have one toughness!

Golgari Lich Lord to sacrifice your demons if you have creature stalemate, or just to be a big critter after you've DCed yourself. He's also easy to retrieve later in the game to keep creature advantage.

Lotleth Troll is synergistic when you can discard a creature card to pump him, then use Pharika's Mender to pull that creature back into your hand. He doesn't require the bow to have trample/deathtouch combo either, and you can regen him while he DTs your opponent's creature defense. He's good offense/defense on his own, as well.
