Enchantment (1)

I hate green. I hate creatures.

Now that we got that out of the way... Here's my green creatures deck.

This deck is very combo heavy and, quite obviously, loves throwing its lands away to take full advantage of the token production from its commander (without being focused on being a token production deck). A well placed Scapeshift and you're going to be brimming with 5/3s or better if Avenger of Zendikar is hanging around. Drop Craterhoof Behemoth or Concordant Crossroads and get in there. Using Akroma's Memorial or Kamahl, Fist of Krosa you're sure to connect for a lot of damage. I consider this the deck's main win condition, but the other creatures in the deck can also pull their weight for the W.

There is not much mana ramp by way of traditional elves (if you skim the list, you'll see just two elves, neither of which produce mana) and land search cards, but rather I get ahead by abusing extra land drops. Couple Crucible of Worlds or Ramunap Excavator with fetches and extra land drops and you can pull a lot of lands out of your deck for deck thinning and to get immediate access to your basics. You tend to explode with mana with a Lotus Cobra on the table while that is happening. Find a mana doubling effect or two and you'll have no problems with mana (just keep in mind that Mana Reflection is the only true doubling effect in the deck; the rest of them either give an ability to lands to tap for some other amount or are additive mana production effects that trigger when you add mana from a land or source; also, Mana Reflection wont double mana added via triggered abilities, just the mana produced from tapping a source). I'm sure you've noticed I run Basic Snow Lands (Snow-Covered Forest)... Extraplanar Lens being an inclusion made this a must.

I tried to run a lot of basic lands to keep it simple. I am running every fetch land in my color and even things like Evolving Wilds. It might seem silly to pay 1 life for a Forest, but when you start recurring lands, it becomes amazing. Courser of Kruphix is there to make sure it doesn't kill you. The deck does well against land destruction efforts because of Splendid Reclamation, Crucible of Worlds, and Ramunap Excavator.

Because of the deck's capability to produce a lot of mana quickly only relying on it's own land base to do so, I decided the creatures in the deck should be big and game changing. There are a few utility creatures that help achieve the end result with your commander, but most of the creatures are included to utilize large amounts of mana to gain a big board presence and push towards victory.

You'll notice some of the mana production and a lot of the card draw comes in quick, large bursts. Try to manage your resources effectively and it'll be hard to mess up even in a situation where your hand is bigger than your library and you still haven't found your Reliquary Tower.

The only downside to this deck in my person opinion as a blue player is that it doesn't have any answers or responses to anything. But a part of me likes this quality. Instead of controlling what is happening on the table, I can instead garner a huge board presence and win with pure combat damage. I love how combo oriented this deck can be even with the lack of instants, so it's quickly become one of my favorite brews.

I sat down in a six person game, where one of my opponents was a cool person they called Nick. He worked at the shop and I always enjoy getting to play games with people who have made it their living.

I sat down at the table expecting to lose. But the newly tuned deck pulled out a W with a Genesis Wave where X was 37. The turn previously, I used Boundless Realms to search up 9 lands and I controlled a Itlimoc, Cradle of the Sun  Flip with three creatures out, all sitting next to Mana Reflection.

Nick was a bit mean to my deck, focusing extra attention to it with a few (imo) poorly placed counterspells. And my loveable, but dumb, ex-coworker Kevin used his Niv-Mizzet, the Firemindfoil deck to stoke Nick's flames after he had dropped Liliana's Caress. Needless to say, I didn't think I was going to win until all resources my opponents had were tapped down and forty mana was guzzled into that top decked Genesis Wave.

I'm considering making this deck even more vicious and taking it to Gigabites next for their EDH night! :D
