Grixis Tea Time Storm

Commander / EDH

RedCloakedCrow

Hi, I'm RedCloakedCrow, and I love Storm.

Since I started playing combo, I've slowly been working my way through every storm deck I can get my hands on. In paper magic, I play UR Storm in Modern and run out my flagship EDH deck, Jeleva Grixis Storm.

I'm a huge fan of Moxnix's Jeleva deck. I think the deck is a thing of absolute beauty, and it runs like a dream. I'm missing some of the highest-priced cards, such as the Dual Lands, Imperial Seal, and Candelabra of Tawnos. To compensate for the slowing down of my deck, I made the choice to push a stack control theme into the deck. I run plentiful counters in order to protect my combo on the preparatory terms. This also translates to safety built into the deck itself, flipping 1 to 2 counterspells with Mind's Desire is very often enough to buy me some degree of security while I finish executing the kill. As always, I'm open to suggestions on the deck.

My deck is very much all-in. The primary line is to storm off. I have the Notion-Wheel combos, Ad Nauseam, and Memory Jar as the first step of getting as many cards as possible. From there, I have cantrips and tutors to ensure that I hit one of the half-dozen mana producing combos, usually allowing me to produce upwards for 15 mana, more than enough to kill. The big storm spells are Tendrils of Agony and Mind's Desire, both of which can outright swing a game to victory. The other win-condition that this deck runs is the Doomsday combo. There are a few simple piles that can be made, depending on the mana available. The Ad Nauseam limits me from being able to play Street Wraith or the Reanimator piles, so the Doomsday combo isn't my primary goal, rather a "get-out-of-loss-free" card.

As always, I'm looking to improve this deck. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Updates Add

I decided to finally rebuild this deck, this time under Kess. Her mini-Yawgmoth abilities are rather powerful, and better suited to most of the disruption that this deck is weak to.

Unfortunately, in the intervening move, I ended up selling off a few of the powerful cards I used to love, including Candelabra of Tawnos, Wheel of Fortune, and Timetwister. Right now, the power of those cards is sorely missed.
