Mono-Black Devotion:
This match-up tends to favor the devotion player, as the hand hate from Yarok's Fenlurker and Agonizing Remorse can be tough to deal with. Decks using Cauldron Familiar/Witch's Oven aren't as tough, since Shock and Bonecrusher Giant turn off the Midnight Reaper draw engine, and our creatures with trample end up winning the game. Nightmare Shepherd style builds tend to hurt our gameplan a bit more, dragging it out as most of our creatures can't trade on their own. Still a win-able game, but requires well timed removal and a good draw.
Simic/Bant Ramp:
Simic Ramp tends to be a favorable matchup, as we are swinging for lethal the turn before most decks can get off an Agent of Treachery or escaped Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath. Removal tends to be weak as Paradise Druid is the only real creature they run worth killing, and hexproof allows the opponent to get in a free ramp turn before we can kill it. Bant shells running Hushbringer and Teferi, Time Raveler have better interaction, but overall the games against this style have been in my favor.
Mono-Red Aggro / Gruul Mirror:
The Aggro decks I have faced have all come down to favorable trading of creatures and burn spells. Destroying a Runaway Steam-Kin has turned many games into a blowout, and not being afraid to trade Questing Beast for the opponents copy has proved to be beneficial. Slowing the game down will allow Klothys, God of Destiny an opportunity to out-value the opponent, and trading creatures provides plenty of fodder for her ability.
Izzet/Azorius Control:
This matchup tends to end up in the decks ability to recover from a board wipe. Many of our creatures have haste, allowing us to chip in a few points of damage each turn without fear of getting blown out by Shatter the Sky. Blue Red has a harder time 1:1 trading cards for our creatures, as many fall above 2 damage for Bonecrusher Giant and Shock, but all will die to Storm's Wrath. Again Klothys, God of Destiny has proven to be an all star in this deck, as you can chip in a few damage every turn through her ability as well as through hasty creatures. This match ends up being a toss up based on the draw, however I have found good success against these types of decks.
Mono-White Devotion:
This deck ended up being the toughest to compete against. If Heliod, Sun-Crowned hits the board it's effectively over. The counter synergy with the rest of the deck is just too much to handle, and we don't have clean removal options in the main board for him. Sunder Shaman has been great as a large threat, however I have yet to trigger his ability and even then it wouldn't deal with the god. A best of 3 game against this deck would prove to be a blowout for them as we can include plenty of removal options for their smaller creatures and the god, however in this best of one build the match-up does not favor us. That being said, I have still been over 50% against mono white mainly due to them not drawing into Heliod, Sun-Crowned. Questing Beast and Embercleave have caused opponents to quit on the spot, so its not all terrible against this deck.
