Win Condition: Hexproof creatures equipped with
Sword of War and Peace
.
Card Choices:
Sword of War and Peace
: My favorite sword for this deck. Protection from red and white is relevant, as RDW and Humans will be strong creature-based decks. Instant speed card draw is popular once again, so it can punish those who hold on to their hands.
Birds of Paradise: Standard one-drop. Speeds up the deck and allows access to my blue creatures turn two.
Phantasmal Image: While it cant hold a sword, it can become a troublesome copy of Dungrove Elder. Can also provide some serious help later in the game, copying any big creatures or destroying legendaries.
Invisible Stalker: While only a 1/1, he does consistently get through when equipped with a sword, providing plenty of damage with the swords abilities.
Thrun, the Last Troll: Definitely a strong choice against counter-heavy decks. A decent-sized body that can put on the hurt with a sword.
Dungrove Elder: The absolute beast of the deck. A difficult creature to remove that only gets stronger.
Garruk, Primal Hunter
: His first loyalty ability provides creatures beyond a board wipe. His second loyalty ability is even more attractive, providing precious card draw to fuel the attack and put more cards in our hand for life gain with the sword.
Green Sun's Zenith: Functions essentially as Dungrove Elder numbers five and six.
Caravan Vigil
: An extremely useful tool from Innistrad. Allows us to keep one or two land hands more often. Additionally, gives us access to blue on turn two. Can be used later in the game to fetch more Forests to feed to Dungrove Elder.
Beast Within: A 3/3 beast is much easier to deal with than planeswalkers and titans.
Naturalize: Artifacts such as Ratchet Bomb and Birthing Pod will be rampant, and they must be stopped. Innistrad also provided more enchantments that can get hairy.
Sideboard:
Fresh Meat: Board wipes will be much more common place, especially against hexproof-based decks. This provides an automatic refill and possibly even better board position.
Genesis Wave: The deck feels like it can go toe-to-toe with aggro, but in case we start to lose board position in the mid-game, we can regain it quickly.
Overrun: Without easy removal (try to save Beast Within for unavoidable bombs), stomping right over every creature aggro throws our way seems a good way to win.
Nihil Spellbomb: Innistrad has provided some scary graveyard-based cards. Thankfully, the answer is one colorless mana away.
The sideboard will constantly changed based on the metagame.
