Welcome to budget building 101.

The core card of this deck is, of course, Assault Formation . Once you drop that, your efficient defensive creatures such as Sidisi's Faithful and Tide Drifter become hyper-efficient bombs. Assault Formation + Benthic Infiltrator especially is your strongest finisher, with maybe a Shape the Sands or two thrown in when your opponent least expects it.

But first, you have to get there. And that's how we end up with the other half of this deck. Erdwal Illuminator, Ulvenwald Mysteries , and Ongoing Investigation provide you with tons of Clues, letting you draw into the oh-so important Assault Formation , as well as plenty of control. For this portion of the game, you are very much a draw-go style deck. Maybe play a 1- or 2- drop creature on your turn, then keep plenty of mana open for counters, tricks, and Clues during your opponent's.
