Please feel free to make suggestions! Input is always welcome- ask me why I included a card or why I excluded a card and I will answer, I am a newer player so I may just not be aware of that card! The deck works by dealing damage fast and drawing faster. Let's make it better together!
The idea for this deck came from making a few decks with friends after a draft last Friday and the one I had the most fun playing with was an Izzet deck built around Blistercoil Weird and Guttersnipe benefiting from goblin token producing cards to deal damage while simultaneously filling the field with small annoying creatures. This is a further fleshed out and streamlined mono-red version that I am creating for the future, right now it is budget but if enough people are interested we could make it adhere to a competitive format, it uses only a couple cards too old for modern.
I will note that user:samgaglio's The Steam Goblin deck was an inspiration for my earlier Izzet deck and therefore it is for this one, if it is too similar or if he does not want this deck listed on here I will remove it, I do not intend to copy or take credit for his ideas I just wanted to use Guttersnipe and goblin tokens.
Land
Mountain This deck prefers speed so using an additional color would just slow it down and lessen the effectiveness. You could replace some with red fetch lands to improve your card draw spells but I don't own any and I don't feel like dropping $200 for four cards in a deck made for fun like this.
Creature
Guttersnipe is used to deal damage as you draw and produce more goblin tokens, he speeds up the game dramatically and is the heart of this deck. He will combo with every other card in this deck to deal damage.
Simian Spirit Guide is used for faster mana, you can get out a first turn Guttersnipe with the right hand or pull off a large combo earlier than you would normally be able to. It is effectively 0 cost and plays like a Lotus Petal.
Instant
Fireblast is usually saved for your last play, you will always be sacrificing mountains, preferably tapped, to play it so it is effectively a 0 mana card for this deck. You don't want to draw these early on so there are only two in the deck.
Lightning Bolt One mana for 3 damage that gets even scarier with a Guttersnipe on the field, with more it can become up to 11 damage.
Magma Jet will let you do a little bit of damage or remove a creature while you move what would slow you down to the bottom of your library and take what you really need for the next turn or combo. It can circumvent a Gitaxian Probe draw while doing its job without forcing you to take damage.
Sorcery
Browbeat's two options are both great for this deck. If your opponent takes the five damage that is what you wanted to do and if you drew three cards that is also what you wanted to do. The three mana cost is hefty for this deck and usually reserved for getting out one of your Guttersnipes so you do not want to fill up your hand with an abundance of these.
Dragon Fodder gets out two creatures and only takes up one draw. You will use the tokens to keep yourself from taking damage from larger creatures and to deal big damage with Goblin Grenade
Faithless Looting is a very good card for your first turn, often letting you fill up your hand with Simian Spirit Guides and allowing many cards to be played first turn. It can also circumvent a Gitaxian Probe that you do not need. Although it is not a great draw if you have 0 cards in your hand you can still cast it anyway to deal Guttersnipe damage, it works similar to Shock that way but will mill some of your deck as a result. (I am not as confident with this having four copies, looking for improvements)
Gitaxian Probe can not be cast for the blue mana and is therefore a 0 drop draw that costs you two life. This deck wants short term gain so that is fine by me, getting to see your opponent's hand is a bonus and can help you plan what to do next if they have counterspell cards or nasty creatures.
Goblin Grenade Say bye-bye to your token and deal large damage for little cost. Not much else to say that other people haven't.
Krenko's Command lets you run 8 copies of Dragon Fodder.
Rite of Flame lets you cast nearly every card in the deck on the first turn but is less useful as the game goes on since there aren't any high cost cards. It is my newest addition which I took out two Mountains for and I am not as confident with it as I hoped to be with it, but it is an extra mana on one turn that will deal damage with a Guttersnipe out.
Sideboard
I haven't thought of anything for it yet.. Input is appreciated!
Here are some cards that I considered using but decided against.
Blood Moon has too high of a cost so it will set you back when you want to be casting your Guttersnipe or Browbeat. Possibly a sideboard candidate for playing against people with lots of fancy lands or people not playing red.
Empty the Warrens has too high of a cost to be played effectively as you won't be able to get it out with lots of spells cast earlier that same turn.
Goblin Rally was in my earlier Izzet version of the deck but can be replaced by casting two Krenko's Command or Dragon-Fodders which will also be dealing twice the damage with Guttersnipe.
Krenko, Mob Boss costs too much and even though he produces lots of tokens they do not activate Guttersnipe's ability and you will deal less damage over a longer period of time.
Manamorphose would basically draw cards for 0 mana as long as you were able to get two mana out before you played it. That was the problem and Gitaxian Probe works better because you draw cards and see your opponent's hand for 0 mana.
Pyrokinesis could be casted earlier than Fireblast and can be used to destroy a creature and hurt your opponent but Fireblast works without cards in your hand to end the game. This one is more of a choice of preference.
