GW Midrange Landfall- Detailed Guide

Modern GW (Selesnya) Midrange

Sirius20001

GW Midrange Landfall is a fun-to-play deck that makes very good use of the excellent cards Path to Exile and Knight of the Reliquary.

Rationale for Cards

Creatures

Admonition Angel- This card is a gigantic bomb. In this deck, it can easily exile 3+ nonland permanents per turn. If you can pull off Nissa, Worldwaker's ultimate with this in play, you will probably be able to exile your opponent's entire board (Except lands, of course).

Courser of Kruphix- This card can get you a lot of life, and also its ability to let you see the top card of your library can be very useful in determining when to use your numerous shuffle effects.

Knight of the Reliquary- Okay, I'm not sure if I can stress how good this card is. Even with no other cards, this card can:1. Thin your deck so that you have a higher likelihood of drawing nonland cards on later turns.2. Increase its p/t by one each turn3. Mana fixing4. Replace a tapped land with an untapped one

With other cards, the possibilities go through the roof. 1. This card can proc landfall 2x/turn by grabbing a fetch land or Flagstones of Trokair if you have another one (Legend rule occurs, and one is sac'd and you search for another land). Also, by doing this, you are putting 2 lands into your graveyard increasing its p/t2. This card can shuffle your library for any reason necessary

Lotus Cobra- loads of mana of any color on a 2/1 stick? Yes please!

Steppe Lynx- one-drop that can trade with many 2- or 3-drops.

Undergrowth Champion- hard to remove, gets good trades, gets big fast.

Vinelasher Kudzu- Faster version of Undergrowth Champion, but is more easily removed/traded with.

Instants

Harrow- Instant-speed double landfall trigger (triple with Flagstones of Trokair) is very nice, especially with Lotus Cobra.

Path to Exile- Instant-speed removal that can take out almost anything. Also can be used on your own creatures that have outlived their purpose for another landfall trigger

Lands

Flagstones of Trokair- Useful, works nicely with Harrow, and can be very useful if you can get two at the same time (For Legend Rule shenanigans)

Windswept Heath- double landfall trigger in one turn, and land thinning make this card very worthwile.

Basic lands- I enjoy running a lot of basic lands for budget reasons, and also for abilities that specifically require basic lands.

Planeswalkers

Nissa, Worldwaker- Board presence, bonus mana, and a game-winning ultimate make this card my favorite one-mana planeswalker.

Playing the deck

Mulligans- Try to get a hand with 2-3 lands, but 4 is ok. If possible, get Knight of the Reliquary in your opening hand.

Matchups- I have played very little with this deck, and I will update as I go.
