Abstract:

I’ve always wanted to make a Commander Cube, so I set out to create a unique style of Commander Cube, where the power level is fairly low, but still has the potential for splashy plays and big swings.

Ideas:

Bartering:

This revolves around adding traits to drafted cards. For instance, a piece of paper could be added into the sleeve of a card that says “Draft only as a Barter.” Drafting this card would add it to your separate barter pile. At the end of each pack, players present their barter piles, and any player may forcibly trade their pile with another. If there is a discrepancy in the number of cards, the person with the lower number must add cards form their draft pile to their barter pile until even. If no trades are made, each player keeps their pile and adds it to their draft pile. My goal is to have each round have anywhere between 0 and 4 barter cards per person, to add variance.

Color Identity Modifications:

Some of the commander options are quite limited on what color cards can be used in the cube. The idea copies Sanderson’s cube where certain picks in packs allow for additional color identities for whatever commander you pick in leu of an actual card
