Life Acquisition
Aim
The idea behind this deck is to leverage the Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond
combo with a lifelink weenie creature base. Initial damage will be done to an opponent in the early turns, flooding the board as quickly as possible with weenie creatures. Then when I can afford the combo, finish them off with anything that causes me to gain life.
Tithe Drinker and Vampire Nighthawk provide the early game assault and source of life gain. Souls of the Faultless primary role is to provide defence and a deterrent to any big hitters. Either of the two gods provide an indestructible source of damage, Athreos, God of Passage being particularly useful in returning my 3 drop creatures to my hand if they die.
Read the Bones provides the deck with card draw and the ability to see to 4 cards if required. The Orzhov Keyrune provides a small amount of ramp but more importantly a lifelink creature if required.
This deck also works very well in multi-player as once the combo is established I can take out everyone by gaining just one life.
Key Combos
Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond
The main combo in the deck, killing all opponents at the point I gain any life.
Exquisite Blood + Vizkopa Guildmage
Another version of the main combo in the deck.
Main Board
Athreos, God of Passage
Enables me to keep getting back and replaying all the weenie creatures I will be throwing in front of enemy threats unless they are willing to lose life.
Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim
A life gain trigger for only 1 mana not to mention a 2/3 with deathtouch for one WB.
Cliffhaven Vampire
Another source of life drain and a flying threat..
Crypt Ghast
Affords the possibility to extort spells and dependant on card draw ensures I can cast both Sanguine Bond and Exquisite Blood by turn 5.
Souls of the Faultless
A great deterrent for opponents big and nasty creatures.
Tithe Drinker
A weenie creature that is intended to deal damage in the early game and swallow any spare mana extorting spells.
Vampire Nighthawk
Flying, Deathouch and Lifelink, what's not to like for 3 mana.
Vizkopa Guildmage
Useful for giving Boros Elite lifelink if attacking with multiple creatures and double the loss of life if its activated ability is paired with Sanguine Bond.
Sorin, Lord of Innistrad
This pumps out useful chump blockers, who usefully have lifelink to trigger the Exquisite + Sanguine combo. The -6 is a great way of getting rid of any major threats that might be poised to attack if a Soul of the Faultless bites the dust.
Exquisite Blood
Half of the game over combo for opponents with Sanguine Bond.
Prison Term
Shuts down the largest enemy threats to hit the board.
Sanguine Bond
The other half of the game over combo provided I can gain life at some point.
Read the Bones
Due to the low cost of the creatures in the deck and the life I will be gaining, essential for drawing into more weenie creatures and the combo in the mid to late game.
Orzhov Keyrune
Useful for ramping to the main combo or turning into another creature with lifelink.
Disclaimer
All my deck centre around trying to do one or two things well based around a certain theme, they are not intended to be able to defend and cope with everything and anything that comes their way. (Good Card Suggestions vs Deck Dilution)
I am a 'kitchen table' player with a limited budget. As with all my decks advice and suggestions (as well as +1's) are always very welcome but keep in mind anything above the $5 per card mark I'm unlikely to consider.
The more reasoning you can give with any suggestion you make, the more likely I am to consider running it in the deck. This is because I can't always spot the combo or idea you are going for. Letting me know what your thinking gives me a better insight into how you think this deck might be made better by the suggestion.
