Alright, I've gotten to the point with this deck where it no longer totally sucks, although I'm still experimenting with it. Any and all help is appreciated. +1 if you like it!
Ajani, Mentor of Heroes works very nicely in this deck. He provides 3 extra counters every turn (6 if I have Primal Vigor/Doubling Season out), and lets me dig for things with his second +1 if I need to. His final has saved me from death multiple times, but is more there as a backup. With Doubling Season, he can be used for a quick 100 life for 5 mana. Not the quickest +1/+1 counter producer in the deck, but certainly very versatile.
Bioshift is absolutely amazing how well it synergizes with the rest of the deck. Shift tokens off of Kalonian Hydra or
Scute Mob
onto Mycoloth, funnel tokens onto Champion of Lambholt to make your army unblockable, onto Forgotten Ancient to spread your tokens out however you want, you can do whatever! Add in Doubling Season and go wild.
Hindervines
I'm still experimenting with this card, seeing how well it works here. In most scenarios, this becomes a 3 mana "prevent all damage dealt by creatures target player controls", which seems like it has a possibility of being very useful.
Test of Faith
this card works early game wonders. Works particularly well with Gyre Sage, allowing me to get massive mana ramp. This is a nice combat trick allowing not only easy blocking, but also 3 +1/+1 counters for 2 mana. Fun stuff.
Curse of Predation is fabulous. It doesn't work quite as well against fast aggro decks, as more often than not, the creatures they have out early game will be bigger than mine. Coupled with Champion of Lambholt though, this can almost be a wincon in and of itself, and the curse also enables
Hindervines
.
Doubling Season/Primal Vigor for all intensive purposes, Doubling Season is the way to go, but the group of friends I play with most often like their infect decks, so Primal Vigor protects better against that. Besides that, there's not too much else to say here. Doubling Season literally makes every single card in this deck an absolute bomb. I'm not entirely sure why I only have 2 in here right now.
Champion of Lambholt is a nice steady counter producer that more often than not, makes your late game creatures unblockable. Pair with Mycoloth for extra giggles.
Forgotten Ancient is one of the best counter producers here, not only because it creates plenty of +1/+1 counters, but also because it can distribute them himself, without needing the help of Bioshift. He can also make a pretty effective blocker, need be.
Gyre Sage provides excellent mana ramp, provided I can get counters on her early. Late game I don't really need the extra mana, but for the most part, there aren't that many ways I can get the counters onto her early on. When I am able to make use of her though (like with
Test of Faith
), she is incredibly useful, and then makes a nice treat for Mycoloth, once I get him out.
Kalonian Hydra will destroy anything and everything in his way. He is by far the most efficient counter producer in this deck, and if I'm able to Bioshift them off of him, onto say Mycoloth, I practically win. Even without Mycoloth, he's still a total monster on his own. One game I had him out with two Doubling Seasons, it was beautiful.
Mycoloth has synergy with every single other card in the deck. I haven't lost a single game where I've successfully gotten him out. Yet. This is my bomb.
Phantom Nomad
is actually a nice little card. Mainly here to protect me early game, he stores +1/+1 counters nicely. Works quite well with Curse of Predation, where I essentially get an indestructible 2/2 attacker that only gets stronger if you let him through. Once he has served his purpose, I can Bioshift the counters off of him, or eat him up with Mycoloth.
Scute Mob
is also here to protect me early game, but if these little guys survive until turn 6 and beyond, they either create a giant monster that my opponents have trouble dealing with, or quick counter production, which I can then utilize with Bioshift.
