Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots provide these sorts of things.

Protection FROM Heartless Hidetsugu

He's pretty heartless after-all, even to you. So protect yourself by using Glacial Chasm, Pentagram of the Ages , Fortune Thief, and Dark Sphere .

Counter Protection

This comes in the form of Price of Glory and Citadel of Pain. Possibly Ruination if they're running tri or dual-colored decks.

Damage Pingers

You want to be in control of the damage your opponents face to assure their life totals are even. You also want to be in control of your life total so the pingers I included can all target you as well. Or allow Citadel of Pain to hit you for one by leaving a mountain up or Pristine Talisman will help with your life total.

Burn

Burn your opponents to finish them off or bring their life totals down to an even number.
