2-1 Vampires and Dragons
1st game I won because he had bad draw.
2nd game he won coz I had bad draw.
3rd game I boarded in Selfless Spirit. On a couple of crucial plays I could make my Creatures Indestructible using Selfless Spirit and Archangel Avacyn
Flip. Winning move was attaching Stitcher's Graft to Archangel Avacyn
Flip, and making her Unblockable with Rogue's Passage. Since there were two Always Watching on the field she hit for 9, and closed the game.
This guy REALLY loves his Dragons. He's been playing the same colours since DTK, and always runs Thunderbreak Regent. I don't know what he's going to do, now that they are rotating out.
1-1 Emrakul and Her Eldrazi Friends
This deck contained the likes of Thought-Knot Seer, Oblivion Sower, Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, and Emrakul, the Promised End.
1st game took 35 minutes to play. There was a stalemate for a long time, where neither of us felt that we were in a position to attack. He saced five Creatures to flip Westvale Abbey
Flip. I had two Always Watching and six land on the field, which meant I had some very big Crreatures: a 9/10 Sylvan Advocate with a Stitcher's Graft attached a 9/9 Archangel Avacyn
Flip with another Stitcher's Graft attached to it, and a Tireless Tracker that had grown to be 11/10,
He kept attacking with Ormendahl, Profane Prince
Flip until I was on 2, and he was on 26. I was attacking with my Sylvan Advocate and my Tireless Tracker. He only had Ormendahl, Profane Prince
Flip. I had to block with Archangel Avacyn
Flip to save my last 2 life. Then I got a Declaration in Stone in hand. Too bad for him. I got rid of Ormendahl, Profane Prince
Flip on my turn, and drew another Archangel Abacyn, which I played on his end step. For my last play I used two Rogue's Passage to make two Creatures Unblockable, and hit for 18 with Archangel Avacyn
Flip and Sylvan Advocate.
Felt good.
I lost the 2nd game. He removed cards from my hand with Thought-Knot Seer, and was able to block my Creatures with a 5/8 Eldrazi, so I couldn't attack. He was able to get Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, Kozilek, the Great Distortion, and Emrakul, the Promised End all on the field at the same time. He took a photo of that because it was obviously never going to happen again.
We didn't have time to finish our third game.
2-1 Angels
1st game I got out of the blocks quickly with a Stitcher's Graft on to a Sylvan Advocate by Turn 3. He didn't recover from that early blow.
2nd game I had a bad draw and he won fast.
3rd game I got Gisela, the Broken Blade
Meld out and Flashed in Archangel Avacyn
Flip to protect it when he tried to remove it. I then attached Stitcher's Graft to Archangel Avacyn
Flip. Creatures were now too big for him to deal with.
A key play was when he got some bigger Creatures on to the field and attacked with all of them. I blocked with Knight of the White Orchid, and Tireless Tracker, and saved them by Flashing Archangel Avacyn
Flip out. He had Thalia, Heretic Cathar on the field. On my turn all my Creatures untapped, including Archangel Avacyn
Flip. His Creatures were all tapped, so I was able to hit with all my Creatures for victory.
So there ya go. My first FNM win!
To all those who doubted how good this deck was ... Argeaux finally got it into a form that is tough to beat. Thanks babe.
Most important card of the night was Archangel Avacyn
Flip because it gave my Creatures Indestructibility at moments that were quite vital. Plus I was able to block fliers with it.
