Ok, so at FNM last friday I played this deck Tajic and His Homies and it was a really poor showing. I'm still a little upset about it....it was just embarrassing how badly things went, especially when that deck had performed so well for so many months in my play group. So I raged and reflected and enlisted the advice of my boyfriend, who is much better that me in deck building (as I am a pretty good player, just not that great with deck building) and decided Gruul might be a good thing for me to do based on what has emerged to be my play style.
I am a defensive player by nature, and I am a very reactive player, I want to see what you re going to do so I can react against it. I will attack hard and heavy if I feel comfortable in doing so (comfortable meaning that none of my critters will be killed, or at least none that aren't in the deck for the sole purpose of being a chump-block).
Mana Dorks help out with playing the Hydras and Monstrosities. And Zhur-Taa Druid even deals damage when tapped for mana (that is why I favored it over Elvish Mystic )
There are several burn spells and pump spells to use so I can hit hard and heavy all the time.
Impetuous Sunchaser
is a cheap drop that must attack each turn if able so it will always be something the opponent is going to have to deal with.
Minotaur Skullcleaver
, Boon Satyr , and Kalonian Tusker are cheap(ish) drops with good power/toughness and can provide protection and deal damage.
Archetype of Aggression
and
Xenagos, the Reveler
are in there for obvious reasons.
Side Board: suggestions needed.
Suggestions are needed and would be so appreciated!
I can spend some money on buying cards but not a whole lot. Everything in the deck right is in my possession as of now.
STANDARD ONLY (this is the only format my local FNM plays)
