The idea here is simple creature Aggro approach w/ Heroic combo shenanigans to produce tons of +1/+1 counters and swing for obnoxious amounts of damage, along with a little splash of creature control, and even some back-up win conditions via the Boros Gods & Assemble the Legion..
Currently in need of Sideboard advice..
~~
Heros w/ Solo effects:
Favored Hoplite: A decent weenie creature that grows bigger, and can potentially be saved from larger creatures & burn..
Fabled Hero
: If left unchecked, this guy quickly turns into an overpowering beatstick.. (Bomb #1)
Heros w/ Group effects:
Phalanx Leader: This little weenie has the ability to cause everything to grow bigger with every spell (Heroic or otherwise)..
Anax and Cymede: A fantastic creature on it's own, but it's Heroic ability makes it just ridiculous.. (Bomb #2)
Single Heroic triggers:
Hopeful Eidolon
: Although usually used as an early 1-drop creature, it's Bestow ability also allows it to be useful later on..
Gods Willing: Protection spells can be important game-changers on their own, but when they trigger Heroic abilities, they're even better!.
Ordeal of Purphoros
: This card synergizes really well with Ajani & various heroic abilites that also produce +1/+1 counters..
Madcap Skills: An incredibly powerful card, and therefore auto-include for most forms of red aggro.. (Becomes borderline stupid when attached to
Fabled Hero
)
Dual Heroic triggers:
Coordinated Assault
: A quick & simple combat trick for triggering multiple Heroic abilities at instant speed..
Martial Glory
: A complex 2-drop instant for use on one or two creatures..
Dauntless Onslaught
: Pumps most creatures out of Bolt-range, but it's 3-CMC keeps it at a singleton..
Other various spells and additional Win-Cons:
Celestial Flare: One of the more sadistic kill spells available..
Boros Charm: A nice little multi-tool and potential win-con; It's either a hard burn spell, anti-board wipe, or a powerful Heroic trigger..
Aurelia's Fury
: A complex multi-purpose burn tool, usually for pushing an alpha-strike though, but in a pinch can even be used as a combat trick to trigger multiple Heroic triggers..
Blind Obedience: For messing with the tempo of other Aggro match-ups, and as a handy source of extortion..
Ajani, Caller of the Pride: This little kitty makes my creature(s) stronger and puts the game on a clock if ignored..
Spear of Heliod: Essentially a Legendary Glorious Anthem with a built-in source of creature destruction..
Heliod, God of the Sun: Three-fold useful; 1st- Vigilance in an Aggro deck is awesome; 2nd- He's an easily animated indestructible fatty; and 3rd- He's a late-game token producing mana sink!
Hammer of Purphoros: Mainly because having a source of Haste in an Aggro deck is good, but so is having a(nother) potential source of late-game tokens..
Purphoros, God of the Forge: Although likely never to be animated, he's here to mess people up with his triggered burn ability..
Assemble the Legion: A back-up win-con that also synergizes really well with several other cards in this deck (particularly Purphoros & Phalanx Leader)..
