Whenever you hear Boros, you think aggro swarm decks based off winning in the combat step. While this deck is Boros, it is not that. This deck revolves around Metalwork Colossus + Onward + Thud
to hit the opponent for 20 damage out of nowhere.
This fuctions as a miracle deck and our hardest match up is aggro. Which is why we are running a play set of Sweltering Suns and 2 Hour of Devastation, Sweltering Suns can also be cycled anytime if our opponent isn't running a creature heavy deck.
Our game plan is to ramp and hit lands with Cultivator's Caravan, and Thaumatic Compass
, stall with board wipes, cycle through our deck with card draw and scrying, and play artifacts such as The Immortal Sun, Prophetic Prism and Treasure Map
do reduce the cost of Metalwork Colossus. Then pull off the OTK combo for 20 damage. BOOM!
Some good things to keep in mind is that The Immortal Sun reduces the cost of Metalwork Colossus by 7, and lets us draw 2 cards a turn. Combustible Gearhulk is great because it can draw through our deck if our opponent chooses draw. He can also deal loads of damage if we mill Metalwork Colossus, The Immortal Sun, our other Combustible Gearhulk, or Onward because both cards are counted in the CMC.
If we dont draw our Metalwork Colossus, then Combustible Gearhulk can serve as a mini version and can attack or OTK, especially if the opponent picked damage, this is also helped with Key to the City making him unblockable and allowing us to "Loot"
I'm still heisitant on Doublecast, Banefire, and with Guilds of Ravnica coming out soon, this deck will have to be converted to Modern, where I know there are cards that can replace other, but I dont know Modern that well. So any suggestions or additions in Modern are welcomed.
